I had a laptop with no FDD, so it was difficult to install windows, following a low-level format with Darik's Boot & Nuke. The BIOS was set to boot from the CD drive, as any Linux CDs I tested, worked.

Yes, Windows Cd's fully support installation on non-partitioned HDDs, you will be prompted to partition the drive during the installation process.

Why the Fupp are you Low Level Formatting???

There is NO NEED TO EVER low level format these days!
Only if you get SERIOUS disk errors, then at todays ££'s
its cheaper to buy new than risk a failure..

YES you can do a 'Normal' format (NTFS) and create partition etc from booting off the atapi device (CD-ROM)

Yes, they do. You can partition and format the hard drive during the installation. If it is set to boot from CD drive, there shouldn't be any problem.

Yes you can install windows. You need to boot the disk, then one of the options you will get will be to creat a new partition and this is where you will need to do this.

windows xp can work on completely unpartitioned HDD and allows you to repartition and format before continuing installation.
