very carefully
remove clip and unload weapon
pull back bolt and look down barrel to make sure is is unloaded.
take your cleaning worm and let sabot down barrel and pull the swab thru. use solvent and re-pull worm swab. Get aerosol spray of Remington action cleaner and spray into opened action till gunk drips out and allow to air dry, then wipe down.

Use Internet for further strip down instructions

Join the Army and I will teach you. It sounds a bit sus to me for someone to ask you to do this for an essay. You will find that the careers office wont tell you either because the army works on a special code and that is. The code is the need to know code and you don't need to know..........The picture that someone posted a link to is inaccurate as it also has pictures of parts of the Support Weapon neither is is it called a Lee en field SA80 It is made by heckler and Koch. As most people have said it is confidential info, it is, it is Restricted.

Your best bet is to get a mate who is in the army to explain it to you. As for people coming on here saying, i cannot tell you that sort of information is a load of crap. I would explain in detail everything you want to know but it would take ages and as you don't know the named parts it would not be much use to you and your school work will not be your own. You local careers is your best bet, spin then a line saying you want to join and they will be more than helpful. You are using the Internet to ask a question they can be answered by yourself if you like. For reference the correct name is an ENFIELD L85A2. You will see there are many variants for find them out for extra browny points at school.

Classified ha ha ha what a load of crap, just like the SA 80.

You have to strip it so often because it jams so much, pathetic piece of kit. I´d pick an AK 47 or G3 anyday. And I speak from experience.

See the link for a pic of a stripped SA 80.

Sorry to be a party pooper but that's classified information and any answers you get are very likely to be inaccurate because anyone who does know to strip one will know of the serious s**t they'd get into for broadcasting how to do it.
Try doing your essay on the AK47 or 74, they're much simpler so easier to strip and the information is much more easily available lol.
Sorry for the bad news.

Very carefully because it may break or fall to bits unlike the Self Loading Rifle which was a great piece of squaddie-proof kit

I like the way you say chosen weapon. Not by the poor sods who have to use it. Whos asking you to get this info for an essay ? sounds iffy to me.

Ask the nearest army recruitment office to get a manual , explain your reasons, make sure they do not try to recruit you.
