All of the answers given to you are excellent. Plus you have to defrag., if you have not performed the task.

If you really think that a free pc boost will help go to http://www.majorgeeks.com There you will find loads of free pc boost, or memory boost programs. You can take your choice.

I don't recall the name, but one if you have Windows XP, there is a specific program for memory boost XP that is free of embedded spyware or trojans. (Just search their webpage).

Perhaps with all the excellent advise, you will have to purchase an upgraded chip, which cost about $40.00

Programs running slowly is usually not an issue with "boosting" the pc via any additional software. It's usually an issue with the hard drive capacity, memory, and processor speed/configuration.
Run disk cleanup, defrag the hard drive and turn off or shutdown any background programs running that you don't need. Also check your system for how much memory you have and consider adding more. Also take a look at your processor speed and see if that may need to be upgraded as well.

Well, you can limit the amount of programs that start when windows does. This will help.

To do this, go to the start menu and go to Run. One open type MSCONFIG. One the window opens click on the Startup tab. All of these programs startup when windows does. None of them are necessary for windows to operate. You can safely remove them, but you may need some of them for different programs. My suggestion is to get rid of the ones you dont use or need to start up right away. The programs will still work.
