We have had all the tests at the vet and everything seems okay. She cannot keep meat down and is now on dry food as this is the only thing that doesnt make her sick. She gets what we call twisty, where she gets what are like stoumach cramps, and then has lots of gurgling noises and then is sick.Any ideas or similar experiences?.

Thanks for the replies...........
She is 8 years old and had this prob, infrequently throught her life. Now she has it all the time.
Chicken was her fave food, but anything containing chicken now sets her off.It seems to be any wet meat. She has a dry diet now but still sometimes succumbs. The vet ran every test he could including worming her,the only thing he hasnt done is cut her open as she is really fit and active, and he is reluctant to do this.X-rays have shown everything in order.
However she sometimes wakes up with a gurgling tummy and then is sick, which is usually clear but with bits of red in it.
Apart from this she is your usual bossy JRT.Bouts usually last about 3-4 hours then she is fine.

What kind of meat are you giving her?

You might want to consider a more bland diet. Your vet should carry Hill's Science Diet i/d formula (canned food). It's a bland chicken and rice formula.

It is cheaper to make it yourself though. Boil some chicken thoroughly (2 boneless breasts or 3-4 thighs). Seperately cook some rice (not instant), 2c water-1c rice. Run the chicken through the food processor. Mix it into the cooked rice.

This can be put into ziploc baggies and frozen in 1/2 c or 1 c portions. With a smaller breed, I would suggest 1/2 c portions.

Give her just a handful of the dry food you are feeding her and a 1/2 c of the chicken/rice mixture. You might need to feed her 3 times a day. Very easy to digest.

Make maybe 1/2 the batch I've described to see if it helps (but it does freeze well and make a good treat in their food once a week). Good luck.

The dog needs to go to the vet. You can make that happen without blowing the mortgage, its completely possible. You can sell something you own to get some extra money, you can ask your vet to work with you on a payment plan, open a credit card if you don't have one already, etc. Not having readily available funds is never an excuse for letting another living creature suffer, even if your intentions are good. AS many others have said, we CANNOT diagnose or treat your lil guy over the internet. Get him to a professional as soon as possible or he could very likely die. Good luck to you.

Have you had an endoscopic examination with biopsy of the stomach and intestine? This is the most accurate way of assessing several situations involving vomiting.

The test came back ok...tested for pancreatitis? What about tests to see if there is cancer present? The would be found through the endoscopic exam.

Maybe go to a veterinarian that specializes in stomach disorders.

Good luck, hope your guy is ok

I have had dogs that got indigestion also. I had a dog that could not eat people food at all or she would lose it one way or another. Also, if I changed her dog food she would get very gassy. Dry food is ok for dogs, it helps there teeth so stick with the dry food. Did the vet give you any suggestions for releaving her stomach pains?

er what tests have you had done? If she is fine on kibble then keep her on kibble. Often dogs gulpand gobble tinned food which can give them indigestion. I never feed tinned stuff. My dogs get fed kible ad-lib.
