I've been dating this guy for two months. I'm busy with graduate school so we've only been out twice. In spite of that, we've maintained contact.

In the beginning, he used to call/text me all the time. However, I noticed he cooled down considerably after our first date. I think it's because I said "maybe" when he asked if we were going out again. That night he called me to make sure we were going out again and I said "sure, why do you ask?" He said that it was because I said "maybe". It wasn't until then that I realized that I might have hurt his feelings.

We've tried to arrange second dates; however, I've had to cancel on him. Some people say that if you really like someone you'll make time for them. However, just because I'm busy, doesn't mean that I don't really like him!

On Friday, we finally went out on our second date. We had a great time! I sent him a text on Monday and left a message for him on Tuesday - both of which he has yet to respond to.

We're supposed to go out next Saturday. I arranged the date but now I'm wondering if we're still on. (This isn't the first time its taken him a couple of days to get back to me.) Should I even bother going out on this date?

You should try talking to him. But if since your actions kind of said, "I'm not THAT interested," then he probably moved on. Guys are quite sensitive in this area. If you show a little attention, they'll hang around, but if you keep cancelling, they move on quick.

Are you still interested? If you are, then text him to confirm the date and then go. Yes, you may have sent him the signal that you are not interested because you said "maybe" and you canceled a planned date. Who know what you may have said on your second date to send him headed for the hills but if you are still interested, go. Explain to him that you are in school and that is most important to you right now, though you are interested in him. Who knows, maybe he needs a woman who is not preoccupied with something else, I don't know. Just go and see how things turn out.
