Unfortunately so. I presume it is a drinking session as a mate of mine`s mate was getting kidney problems a while ago. He went to his GP and was told to stop drinking for a while.
Generally the liver is the main metaboliser of alcohol. When the liver cant break it down quick enough alcohol then leaks into the bloodstream and hey ho you get pissed!! Unfortunately the liver doesnt really like this and begins to break down (Georgey Best). If you dont give it time to repair or you put the liver under severe strain i.e. a very heavy sesh/days on the booze then the kidneys will try to help out the liver by processing the alcohol. Again by drinking more you put them under strain and they begin to hurt!
Although the kidney problems could be due to any other of the reasons mentioned by other folk, infection etc

Yes it certainly is something to be worried about. It could only be a kidney infection. But if you have had unprotected sex then you should go to the doctors right away and get it sorted. It isn't something you want to let get out of hand. and it isn't something to joke about.
