I have an active runner that likes to run back and forth in my yard (medium sized yard) and likes to jump up on fences or crates, etc. I think he pulled his tendon in his front left leg just above his elbow joint (about 2 inches above the joint is where he feels the pain most). Nothing seems dislocated and he still uses it to run or walk on though he is limping. IS a torn or overstretched tendon something that fixes itself in time or are other measures necessary?

keep the dog confind for a little while, if you can. just so it doesnt walk/stand on it. maybe a heating pad? if it doesnt get better in a day or so, take it to the vet. my dog used to jump on the bed and couch and eventually she tore ligaments (or tendons, i dont know which is which) in BOTH her knees and had to have double knee surgery. we only knew she was in pain because she STOPPED jumping on them, and wouldnt come up the stairs. other than that, she would walk around, just kind of stiffly.

A dogs tendons are like ours. It doesn't sound like anything is broken, but I would take your dog to the vet. Don't put any thing on it, just incourage him to rest and not run. Maybe go for a walk on a leash or something.

I would get him to a vet....he could have a cracked bone or even elbow dysplasia..or could be as simple as a pulled muscle or tendon..in any case the vet might want you to restrict activity so it can heal....best to check with a Dr. and find out.

TPLO and TTA are the gold average for CCL tears. There is a via the joint approach that's nonetheless utilized by a few vets. Any method that you simply appear at it the knee demands to be repaired earlier than arthritis units in and bounds the position of the leg.

Take her to the vet. Only he/she can tell you what is wrong and how to handle it. My dog injured the anterior cruciate ligament in each of her hind legs. One injury just required rest for healing, but the other needed a cast.

You can have a vet check him out if you like. Usually it will heal by itself with rest, so you may have to curtail his exercise for a bit.
He sounds like a great candidate for agility. Dogs go over and through obstacles and are timed, it's a riot. Your dog doesn't have to be registered to compete.

Unless you pulled you DVM license out of your Trix this morning.........TAKE THE DOG TO A VET!!!!!!!!! You are not qualified to make that assumption and the dog could have an injury that requires more.
