Smoking dampens down your appetite, so by eating less you lose weight in the process....i wouldn't recommend it to be the best way to lose weight though.

Nicotine supposedly suppresses the appetite, but then why do so many people want to smoke right after a good meal? I think the main reason is it trashes your taste buds, so people who do not eat out of compulsion (which would not include me in the days when I smoked) tend to lose their appetite. Your mouth tastes of tobacco, not of food. The tobacco then flavors most foods, unless you eat highly spiced foods. But the smoke is also harming your stomach to some extent, so the highly spiced foods may increase your discomfort. So if you are stupid enough to give into the tobacco, it will very possibly make you lose weight IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY A COMPULSIVE EATER. If you are, it's just one more compulsion you will have to work on breaking.

Face it, folks: tobacco smoking is not worth the hassles.

smoking speeds up your metabolism which in turn makes you lose weight and it also is a appetite supressant so you don't feel the need to eat. You can lose weight smoking because i have i wouldn't suggest it though cuz in the long run it can kill you and i stopped smoking and with discipline i kept the weight off.

Let's see................cancer versus diet & exercise. Put down the smokes and get up and moving. People don't smoke to lose weight! They typically gain weight when they quit because they eat more.

They can... but, it's not advised or safe... Smoking is addictive and the cravings it produces are more than psychological. By continuing to smoke, you damage your lungs air capacity, and then are forced to burn calories just trying to breathe normally... Not the best way to lose weight.

You don't loose weight because you smoke. You gain weight from quitting due to stuffing ones face and the withdrawal slows down the metabolism....

If you smoke a lot, then you spend more time smoking than eating. Most people like to eat when they watch t.v, read, etc...if you smoke, you're doing that half of the time instead. (I smoke in case you're wondering).

Instead of eating you smoke. Therefore, you are taking in less calories and fat. You are actually burning calories just by smoking a cigarette, though it's not that healthy. You should still eat....just eat better foods. Celery actually has NEGETIVE calories. You burn more calories eating the celery then the celery itself.

you cannot loose weight through smoking. the excess weight one carries in form of fat is a result of a positive energy balance, which means one is eating more than they are using.the excess energy is converted to fat.the only way to loose this fat is by maintaining a negative energy balance through exercise and eating right.
