no, cos the two wars they fought with the oppostion haveing air and sea power proved america can not fight a country with those capabilities, the second world war the soviets won as even the german admitted after, the pacific war ,america resorted to use two atom bombs to make the japs surrender, there is a saying, "never fight an enemy who could hit you back twice as hard"

If you mean a major country with serious capabilities, then no we haven't and no, we wouldn't, unless there were no other options.

You see, at this point in time, major countries have the ability to inflict massive damage and casualties upon each other, and would probably result in a wider conflict and untold deaths. No major countries want a major conflict like this and will talk negotiations rather than belligerence. This is why there will never be a US-Chinese war or a US-Russian war, etc. Both sides have too much to lose.

There will, of course, be proxy fights, but everybody recoils from doing something stupid. We all should have learned to be wary after the recent scare when Wesley Clarke almost started a war with Russia with his provocative action in Kosovo.

The Cold War is the only example that fits your question. Not since WWII has America or any other country fought on the land, air and sea. Korean War the US fought against North Korea and China and Russian Aircraft and pilots but no major sea battles. Vietnam War the US fought against China's aircraft, but again no sea power. Iraq had an airforce at the beginning but most were Russian made and shot down, destroyed on the ground or defected to Iraq and Syria. Again not sea power.

Yes, if you can call it sea and air power what they had.

The USA only attack countries which have a patheticly small chance of doing any serious damage, and who cannot reach the US homeland with thier weaponry

If they chose an adversary with any notable power they would get a kicking. Mainly because the US military is pathetic except for the big tecnological advantages. But even then they end up shooting thier own people and allies.

It is because after that America has been attacking or invading only countries with hardly any defence capabilities! But the miserable time the soldiers had in Vietnam and the eventual defeat at the hands of Vietnamese soldiers is unmatchable!

I love how casually you go over WORLD WAR II. You should do a little reading and research.

Japan Had Fighter planes (I'm not sure they had invented jet engines during WWII.) They had submarines, some were actually found submersed near the shores of AMERICA. Needless to say they had ships.

Bear in mind that we really didn't end WWII with the fighting, but with dropping the A Bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki a combined death rate of approximately 224,000 in two days.

Go to Willipedia and research the battles of WWII. Just this weekend I was having a discussion with a retired Air Force Colonel who was in Viet Nam and is a War Buff and knows about battles I never heard of .

My daughter in laws Grandfather was murdered by the Japanese in the Phillipines, shot down in a river while trying to get away with the men of the village.

Read about WW II which really started in 1937 when the Japanese began to go into China to Murder, Rape and Pillage.

I had a very elderly Aunt who taught school in China during the thirties. I have her writtings from moving from one provence to another to avoid the Japanese.

After that they kept moving. REMEMBER THE JAPANESE FLEW FIGHTER PLANES TO HAWAII AND BOMBED PEARL HARBOR.
When they bombed the Arizona (a major Naval ship) 2400 people died on that one ship (almost as many as the towers.

PLEASE FOR YOURSELF DO SOME RESEARCH. GO SEE 'FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS', It will give you a little insite.

In WW2 Japan and Germany both had air and sea superiority based on shear numbers and because the US hadn't really settled on a decent fighter.

Since then the US has concentrated on developing the technological edge to take both the air and sea.
