I have the same problem. We live on about three acres and have horses and all kinds of animals. When the stray got pregnant for the third time, I decided to keep her in our tack shed because it was warm and nothing could get in. I fed her and gave her water. Once she had her kittens, I took them and her into the animal shelter and she got a good home.

Good luck, and I hope she gets a safe home!!!!!!!!

If you want to keep her, you should maybe try to provide a nice place for her to have her babies. When I was a little girl, I would make little "nests" around my house and yard for my mama cats (yes cats I had 4 mama cats pregnant at the same time!! ) Normally with old clothes, sweaters, lots of soft stuff, and I'd hide it some place cozy like under the front porch, they wont have the babies out in the open unless they feel 100% safe! If you don't want to keep her or the babies, I'd suggest you ask around to see if anyone else would or call animal control. I have way too big of a heart and normally keep strays until I can find homes for them because I am sooo afraid they'll be put to sleep!!!

I see a lot of people who are giving you the best advice getting a thumbs-down. You may not LIKE this, but it's the best thing for the cat and her kittens; take her to a shelter. They'll provide warm shelter and veterinary care (which she NEEDS since she's pregnant!), and then they'll be able to spay the mother, and find ALL of the cats loving homes.

I understand if you want to keep her around....but she and her kittens are in danger being outside even if you build them a shelter. There are so many diseases, parasites, predators...not to mention cold temperatures. Do right by the cats.

Not all animal controls automatically put cats to sleep. Our local animal control tries really hard to foster them out and find permanent homes...they keep them for MONTHS on end if they're adoptable, because they really want to avoid euthanizing. But there are alternatives to animal control. Look on http://www.petfinder.com to find no-kill shelters in your area.

Call the humane society and see if they will give you a humane trap. Catch Momcat and take her in. they will probably find homes for the kittens and fix Momcat and find her a home too.
It isn't a good idea for Momcat to keep having kittens that will die or nobody wants. Why go thru the trouble of a pregnancy if the kittens don't get a chance at a happy life?

Put some wet cat food in a cat carrier to lure her in and close the door behind her. Take her to the vet to be spayed. If she is nice, maybe you can find a home for her. If she is feral you could put her back were you found her after she is spayed. At least she won't have any more kittens. If you call animal control, they will most likely just put her to sleep.

You should take her to your local vet, this way her and the kittens have a better chance of surviving. Make sure you tell them about her recent incidents with the other kittens.

Why can't you bring her inside?

If you want to help then you'll at least try to help her and her kittens find a decent home... Ask around the area and your social groups and see if you can find anyone who would willing to serve her needs.

Incidentally... people always seem to be quick to want to sterilise cats.... yet who is going to sterilise the humans to stop -them- breeding? Hmm?
