He is arriving in the morning and i was hoping to go for a gentle hack in the afternoon. is this ok, or would you recommend a longer rest period. He is coming over from Ireland, then has a three hour journey from Holyhead to my home.

Has this horse been shown and traveled round some? if so an afternoon may be all is necessary w/some turnout and then the subsequent day you may want to vacation him gently. not confident how lengthy the adventure is in entire yet when this horse is used to being hauled round for exhibits then he must be high-quality by the subsequent morning. If that is his first time and is an prolonged adventure for him then i might want to attend to make sure how he adjusts. not something is immediately ahead even as it contains our equines...its all about the concern and that particular horse so that you're going to easily ought to attend and observe and use your best judgement. solid success w/your new chum.

Ooh I didn't realise we were in the presence of such wealthy folk. I reckon you should let him rest for at least the evening, just to be safe. Long journeys are tiring on people, so I imagine that the horse might be a bit shook up because he doesn't understand whats happening.

Good luck with your new horse.

I would give him a bit more of a rest. he doesn't need to be quarantined I presume. Just visit him at the stable, but leave it til next day to go riding.

He'll let you know when he's ready. You should be able to tell from his actions whether he is going to be "in to" going for a ride or not.
