Happy Birthday, and god bless!

To make this a REAL question, how may have been stationed in Camp leguine, North Carolina? Say I. (just a poll :) )

I grew up right outside of Camp leguine, my father was a Marine. ( I know, once a marine, always a marine.) Camp Leguine has some of the best fishing places in the area.

Hear, Hear!!

My little brother is stationed in Okinawa until March, then signed up for a cycle in Australia before he comes hom in June. He will probably be stationed in Lejeune for another year after that.

I was actually a cattle car driver out of camp Geiger back in the fifties. You might remember the cattle cars, these were tractor trailers we would haul the troops around in during ITR training.

I did get to LeJeune occasionally, that is where headquarters was for our motor transport unit. Being an NCO at Camp Geiger was like being royalty. As a buck sergeant, we ate off china and had table cloths. Our plates were bussed by people on mess duty. A guy could used to that treatment, however it was the only time during my watch, that I ever had that treatment. So, you young guys out there, don't think it's part of the package no matter what the recruiters tell you. Semper Fidelis

I was also raised a Marine Brat!

I was born @ Camp Lejeune and pretty much raised @ Cherry Point. I miss living on the coast. Back then all you needed was a dime and an I.D. card to jump on a shuttle bus and go.

My father (now deceased) was a World War II, Korean War, Vietnam X 2 veteran. He saluted on his death bed. Deep down I am sure he re-lived his Marine life taking his last breath's. He was one of the few, the proud and the brave (sometimes too proud).

A salute to all that have served and are serving in our nation's armed forces!

Camp Lejeune used to be the infantry training depot after boot camp. At that time, all Marines who went through boot camp at Parris Island, would have been stationed there for at least one month. That is not a "permanent" duty station, but they were stationed there.

And Semper Fi!
