He will eat it when he gets hungry, I guess he is just hoping that you will repeat the treat. Be careful or he will start begging at the table when you are having dinner making you feel guilty!

A lot of people don't cook for their own family so how should they be expected to cook for their dog? Yet there is mounting evidence that commercial dog food contains ingredients that are actually toxic - including road kill and euthanized pet remains. Brand-name dog food is relatively recent; for thousands of years before that, dogs ate table scraps. Claims have been made that dog food can actually shorten your pet's life. Go here for more details:

The only fix is to give him his dog food and nothing else. Leave his food down for about 15 mins. when he doesn't eat take it away and give him no treats in between. It sounds harsh, but it's what my vet recommended abd in the long run it will be so much better for your dog.

Firstly--no more people food! It can be harsh on his coat and digestive system, even though it's tempting to share your dinner with him! The best advice I was ever given on this topic was "Dogs don't commit suicide" meaning if you leave food in his dish for him, eventually he will eat it. Also, we sometimes put a little bit of sodium and sugar free peanut butter in with our dog's food--that should do it!

Don't leave his food sitting in the bowl all day waiting for him to eat.

Have him sit. Give him a bowl of his regular food. Allow him 15 minutes to eat and then take the bowl away. (If he's hungry it will be long gone before 15 minutes is up).

That night, repeat. By the next morning he'll be more appreciative of his regular food.

Don't give him any more people food. Continue feeding him dog food. If he won't eat then don't worry; take it away. He won't starve. When it's time for his next feeding, put out the dog food again. He'll get the hint that this is what he's supposed to eat.

You should start by mixing a very small amount of table food in with your dog's dry food. We used to feed our bull boxer table food until the vet told us it was bad and that it would cause bad manners and begging. We weened her off by doing this and now we dont have any problems. Then once your dog is on plain dry food, you can mix a table spoon of Iams gravy...good for your dog and they really like it. You can buy it at Walmart.

When our dog decided to snatch a sub off the coffee table when no one was looking, it was over and done. She NEVER begged for food before, and after that, she literally stalks us when we're sitting down to eat. She lies under the table waiting for something to just drop!! It was sooo annoying. She wouldn't eat her dog food for a while either. I had to buy canned (meat) dog food and mix it with her dry dog food before she would be satisfied with it. After a while, I could just give her dry dog food and she'd eat it. Eventually, they'll get hungry enough to eat their own food!

iv had same problem in past with my dogs. This is what you do, get a bowl of normal dog food either dried or wet, mix it with gravy, any old gravy works bisto granuals or an oxo usually works. they will believe its got human food in it and they always eat it. IT WORKS. Please dont starve your dog untill it gets so hungry it will eat it, as a dog going 3 of 4 days with no food can be aggressive and unpredictable AND depressed.

He'll eat if he gets hungry. I would suggest removing the dog from the room when you eat. Once you are done eating, put his food down and let him eat. This way he won't associate you eating with feeding time or hand outs.
