I've been with my fiance for over 8 years now, and it drives me CRAZY when he goes through my purse. Not that there is any thing in there that he shouldn't see or any thing like that. It just really gets on my nerves and I get, I don't know, frustrated when he does it. Even if it's just for a lighter or a pen or something. Is that normal. Why does it bother me so much. All he has to do is ask and I will tell him if what he needs is in there and I'll get it. So I caught him going through it the other day while I wasn't looking, and he said it's because I get so defensive when he goes in there, so he wanted to know what I'm hiding. Now, I'm a stay at home mom, and we don't do much of any thing unless it's with him. He has no reason to be suspicious. I get defensive because it's a huge pet peeve of mine and he won't quit doing it.

Yes that drives me crazy also. It's not the point of hiding something and it's not how long u have been together that matters anyhow, it's the fact that even if u are a couple u still have to have "respect" for the other person's personal items. Ask him how he would feel if u were always going through his wallet, or scrolling through his phone, or his glove box in his car........it's all the same. Compare it to his Mom's purse..........would he go through that without asking? I doubt he would, and if not then why wouldn't he. You are totally in the right and hopefully u can get him to understand it. Good Luck

I would find it annoying too because a purse is a woman's life central... We carry all of our stuff in it! It is ment to be a personal belonging and to be honest he shouldn't be abusing his privelidge (thats not how you spell it lol) of being your fiance. You need to tell him that it is your space and if he wants to borrow something out of it to ask you first if he can go in your purse, or if you can get it for him. If he respects you as a person, he will repect your request.

P.s. I saw the word lighter in your answer - smoking is bad for you... You should quit if you wanna spend a long and happy life with your man... and he should stop too!

Totally agree with you, I am not hiding anything either, but its MY PURSE!!! a womans purse if her domain and her domain only, they dont belong there and should keep there distance.

What would you think tho, if he acted mental for you going in his wallet?? I know I would think he was upto something

Reel him in, why dont you put a number in there with no name and then he will think its something else, but make sure its the local pizza place, or gf house, that way you'll know if he calls, and then you can let him know you set him up, this will make him feel silly para and hopefully stop it.

Good Luck

Well for starters , no one. I mean no one has the right to get into your purse.. don't care what they are looking for , if they want something they should bring the purse to you and you get it for them.. He sounds to be jealous and is thinking that you are fooling around on him.. he is looking for evidence of this in your purse.. what a fool. Glad that you said he was just a finace, don't marry the fool if he is acting this way before you get married because it will get worse later, get a job.. get him out of your life..
I quit carrying a purse for that very reason.. drives them nuts because they then don't know what to do..
Stay at home mom was a good idea but you need to have a job so you have your own security in case this turns bad.. I will tell you from experience that a jealous man is not worth having around. He will be a constant pain for the rest of his life.. dump him and get on with your life with your child.. and just be happy.. You don't need that kind of crap from a man that is supose to love you.. Tell him you don't go through his wallet.. he can't go throiugh your purse.
If like most men that are jealous, he probably hides his wallet at night some where. have you noticed this yet..
and with most men if they are accusing you of doing something it is them that is doing it.. so think about it.. he is most likely cheating on you.. guilty concious is getting the best of him..
do what you want but i myself would get rid of him. or you will have to suffer with it like me..
I am waiting to find a job and get a place of my own because of this very reason..
good luck to you..but find a way to end this with him..

Yes you are right, even one should not ask the permission to go through the purse of some one. You are right that there is a requirement of asking if one wants something in there. Its against the ethics.

Tell him that you feel that he doesn't trust you and that you feel disrespected. Tell him that you would feel respected if he asked to look through your purse. It is obviously not a problem for you so when he asks, let him.

Start going through his wallet. See if he has any condoms in it. Someone that is untrusting is probably untrustworthy.

sounds like that is just a pet peeve of yours... nothing is wrong with it..everybody has something that they jus absolutely cant stand! u should tell him about it. let him know that u have nothing to hide but its jus something that really gets under your skin and u would really appreciate it he stopped.

It would drive me crazy too. For me, it's more of a privacy issue than anything else. This is how I see it.........there's a very fine line between love and respect. How can someone say they love you if they don't respect you (including your privacy)?
