I happen to be a pro photographer and yes, I too have been suckered into buying those school pix!! LOL Actually, I bought the smallest package for each of my kids the first year they were in school. But since then I don't purchase them anymore. I will keep the proof they send home and put it in the scrap book. No, I don't copy the proof. That is against copywriting laws. I only keep it in the scrapbook along with the bajillions of pix I take of them myself. Actually, I have had to hire another photographer to get a nice group pic of them because up until recently, they would not pose for me. LOL

Yes, I have to agree with everyone on this. But I did buy at least 324 school packages over the years. The kids WANT you to buy them, at least before they're about 10 years old. Not all families can afford pictures, so the schools usually take the lower bid.
It's all about growing up and having a good laugh later down the road.
I bought the smallest package and then had professional portraits done twice a year. Capture the moment with a beautiful portrait. You will never get that time again.

Weddings, easily. the conventional value for an 8 hour journey + reception is approximately $2,a hundred - recently. e book a season, or maybe a factor-timer could make solid money. extra effective cases economically and wedding ceremony/journey pictures could properly be between the main profitable expert pictures niches because of the fact this is pushed by way of vast marketplace enterprise (the marriage marketplace is a multi-billion-greenback-a-year marketplace) - plus images - plus engagements - while you're solid. no longer all are and not all make that type of scratch. maximum experts diversify nonetheless - so which you will infrequently come across a expert that does one and not the different. that's what i could do, besides (if I have been professional). even nonetheless it is not continually related to the money. I see such incredibly a number of those questions daily that I could desire to contemplate whether human beings incredibly have faith in the event that they picked up a digicam at their community ultimate purchase, they are choose for expert - that *ish is rediculous. in case you think of that, and you're asking on the grounds which you desire to take your EOS rebellion and shoot weddings and college images - you're flawed. I mean, it is your determination, yet i grew to become into at one in all my son's field journeys and that that they had some feeble beginner, available taking pictures images interior the woods with out lights and a rebellion XSi and that i circled with the quickness - there is not any way. So, do what you desire - would not propose you will prevail. on the different hand, on the grounds that human beings have decrease standards besides - who understands, you will make a pair of greenbacks. solid success with that.

I have no kids, but plenty of sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces etc still in school.
I am a professional photographer so what I do is take pics of all the my families children and print a bunch of billfold size images.
I put my contact info on the back and the kids pass them out at school the week or so before you have to order the school packages. I pick up alot of business that way.

I never did and my kids were always quick to point out the crappy equipment the visiting photographers brought with them.
But were talking apples and oranges here. school photographers tend to be some part timer who the company gave a week long training course too then sent them out to take pictures.
If you ever want to know if your dealing with a real pro or not ask them this simple question. "Do you bracket your exposures"? If they reply with something like "Sure one stop to either side"! then they knows what their doing...if the give you that blank, blink , blink ..look well there just another part timer who never learned the craft

Of course they do. Because usually the picts have a meaning to the children. They mark a special time in their life. Later they connect this time with these picts--together with their yearbook picts.
