you could use a bifold door. They are usually inexpensive and easy to install. You can usually by them unfinished and paint them to match any decor.

Why not use a curtain rod and curtain; a tension shower rod and a shower curtain. Even a folding door will take up more space than pulled back material. With a curtain you can change the decor with little expense.

I'd do it, cause it is a lot of work everyweek to take your clothes to the laundrymat. In home laundry is so much nicer, even if you have to sacrifice a room. Just my opinion. Ron

My mother had this same problem- she used a pretty curtain and rod for a door. You can match it to your decor too! Hers looks very nice. A plain sheet or one that matches your homes colors would do nicely as well.

I liked all of the answers and I might add: a nice bamboo roll-up shade is great and very "in" at the moment.
