My little girl has just been sent home from school after being sick,
she has been complaining of pain in her tummy of and on for the last few days I would say mild pain not enough to stop her playing . she is 5 year's old. Any ideas if this is a bug and how long it might last.

yes sorry to stay there is one. A few kids and a few friends have gone down with it. Last from a day to a week. drink loads of water. and a bit of dried toast for the first day. (no milk bacteria loves it )if she is feeling better by the evening a boiled egg does the trick . (gives the stomach something to hang on to. after that usually o.k to start eating normal again.

I know I myself caught a 24-hour stomach bug earlier this week. Monday around 1pm (just after I ate lunch with my boss) I started feeling sick and I ended up throwing up my lunch at the front desk in the trash can. Then I threw up again in my office about 30 minutes later. I ended up going home around 3, and didn't even make it all the way there before I threw up again in my car. (gross, I know) To make a long story short, my whole family, including my 3 kids were all throwing up that night. The next day we all still had diarrhea but by Wednesday we were ok. Weird, huh?

A few weeks ago a lot of kids in leicestershire went down with a sickness bug, seemed to spread like wildfire. Both my daughters had it, complaining of tummy ache for a couple of days before and then sickness and diahorrea. My eldest shook the s & d off after about 3 days, but my youngest had sickness for couple of days and then the dia' for about a week. Were both really off their food. In between rushing to the toilet they seemed happy and weren't laid up in bed or anything.
Hope she feels better soon.

if it is a bug going round give her some dry toast and water for th next day, the toast will help settle her stomach as it will soak up the badness and move it on through her system the water is to stop any agravasion such as active ingrediants making her tummy more unsettled causig her to be more sick...

im no medical expert but thats what my mums always done and it made me feel so much better, and my sister...

remeber to only put a very small bit of jam/butter on the toast...

hope it helps and she will be ok...

There's always some bug going around and kids of 5 can be particularly succeptable. there's a lot of new germs when they start school brought in from outside sources that their bodies need to adapt and get immune to but it hits some harder than others.

if she's ill for more than 48 hours take her to the docs but otherwise its most likely just a bug that will pass relatively easily.

We all just had this...and trust me...our 5.5 yr old was ready to play minutes after being sick...He could be dying...and still have the energy to play...I found it only lasted less than 48 hours with my sons...and I just had it..but I had it longer and worse than everyone..probably because I took care of EVERYONE before I worried about myself (as usual!) It's also followed by a stuffy nose and cough...that's what we're all battling now!!!

This may sound harsh but try starving her for 24 hours.
This starves the bugs and gives them chance to pass through her body. Give her plenty of water to drink and she should feel better tomorrow. When she does start eating again, try dry toast first, stay away from dairy produce and heavy stodgy foods. By the end of tomorrow she should be feeling much better.
It always worked for me as a child.

There is always some type of bug going around schools, did she eat at school? Make sure it's not food poisoning
