I know it seems a stupid question but just double tripple checking. I've got a UK Passport - do I need to take it for a trip to the Isle of Man? I'm presuming no...

after living in the Isle of Man for a few years
I can say that it is not a part of the UK and never has been
but is a Crown Dependency
immigration control is covered by the UK
so you don't need a passport to enter the IOM
just one thing bothers me however
why would anyone want to go to such a God forsaken dump
it is a damp little place
with people who are rude and obnoxious
and everything is very expensive
if you are travelling by ferry you will be sea sick
and if you are flying you will need photo id - so take your passport!!!!

No you do not favor a passport even although, opposite to the critiques of a few answerers, the Isle of guy and the Channel Islands are literally not area of the united kingdom - they don't have an similar status as Wales or the Isle of Wight, they're Crown Dependencies and are neither contained in the united kingdom nor the ecu. The islands kind a complication-loose shuttle section which incorporates the united kingdom and the Republic of eire, and voters of the CTA international places do not require passports to shuttle between them (besides the undeniable fact that airways may insist on them).

No you don't need a passport you can get there from lots of different places also i should point out The Isle of Man is a Dependency of the British Crown with a high degree of internal autonomy being responsible for its own internal legislation and tax matters. and is not therefore part of the UK

The Isle of Man is NOT a part of the UK but do carry your passport because of Airline Security checks. Some airlines will not let you board unless it is in your possession.

One other thing not mentioned by anyone else so far -- because it is NOT part of the UK your mobile phone will be on International Roaming which of course means higher tariffs. I visited the island last year and know to my cost. In fact where I live in Co. Down I can see the island if I walk 100 yds from my home, but still had to pay the International charges

You dont need a passport to visit Isle of Man from UK, but remember that most airlines need you to carry photo ID and ask to see it before you board, so I always travel with my passport. The Island is beautiful, enjoy!

No - you will be able to use your UK passport. The natives are believed to be friendly. Take plenty of mirros and glass beads though. You can never be too careful.

It's NOT part of the UK, but you don't need a passport. You will require photo-ID if you're flying.
