I think if they do not screen their priests a little more prior to accepting them into the church then yes, accountability is usually a good deterrent.

No I think the Vatican is responsible for the millions of good souls who preach in Churches, it is also responsible for the thousands and thousands of priests who are teaching and giving communion to others. The Vatican is responsible for the ecumenical intention to unite religions and tolerate and understand other´s.

Sick behaviour can be found everywhere just because one or two did something wrong doesnt mean it will always be that way, we can find pervertion in any social structure and any religion...the difference is that some religions do not say it and others try to hide it.

The Vatican is also responsible for the hundred of teenagers and adults who are more concern about religious issues.

Stefan,
The one thing you must remember is GOD loves the sinner, but not the sin. All men and women are sinners, so he loves us each the same. It is very shameful that these Priests have done some very bad things, but you or me can not stop a sinner from sinning, if thats's the choice he or she will make. So the Vatican can not stop anyone from sinning including there Priests. They are addressing the problem slowly but surely. You can't start a witch hunt, that would be very wrong and some of these charges are very hard to prove. So patience seems to be the best policy right now.

The Vatican is actually doing something about the abuse scandels. Last report I read, Pope Benedict XVI was heading a commity to find the cause and fix the problem. The Vatican is CAtholic and has no responcibility for protestants. They are a different branch of Christianity all together.

Catholic and Protestants have both wronged each other in the past, and it is good that we both are coming to understand one another today,as big as our differences seem ,we are Christians.
as for the small number of Catholic Priests that have done wrong the Vatican that once ran away horrified at the scandal is now facing up to it`s responsibities, you know for every one trying to build the Kingdom of God there are 100 trying to bring it down with pessimism and shallow mindset.
God bless all of us.

The Vatican is a religious state that sends it's agents (priests & nuns) out to carry out it's nefarious plans to take over and subjugate the world. Every priest and nun must be forced to register as an agent of a foreigh nation or be jailed. And steps must be taken to dismantle ALL religious states so they can't obtain nuclear weapons and carry out the so called prophesies to achieve their goal to "End the World".

Those who are leaders have much responsibilites on their shoulder.

To point fingers and blame is never the solution. To do so only means to place hatred towards one single source and it is never a solution but will only worsen the situation.

Instead, we should go to the root and correct from there.

God will take care of the vatican and all other forms of false religion.

Maybe in our lifetime too.
