Don't even get me started on this.
I've been married to a bipolar person. Some of the time they're bouncing around like a maniac, gleeing over everything and appearing to have the attention span of a small child..... and the next moment they stop dead, refuse to talk... and look like something just died inside them.... sometimes to the point where it looks like they're going to just break down crying and nothing is ever going to get better again....
.... And then somewhere in the midst of being painfully concerned and trying to cheer them up again, something will distract them... the energy switch will get turned on, the smile will come back and they'll be bouncing around again (or worse still, looking confusedly at you for a moment, completely unsure why you seem so concerned).
Thats a pretty extreme example. Its not always like that.... but I found it did happen pretty often with my ex-wife when she wasn't on her medication...... and when she WAS on it she just wanted to sleep all the time. I couldn't handle it.... which is half the reason we divorced....
[The other half was my own condition: Aspergers Syndrome... and the fact she claimed she couldn't feel any love from me... because I cannot express myself in normal terms. I'm as emotionally dead much of the time as she is emotionally overactive.]

Bipolar disorder is characterised by mood disturbance changing from highs to lows. It used to be called manic depressive. but it can be just highs the mood disturbance is not a rapid cycle but the highs then the lows can last for many weeks. the manic episode is the most commonly attention getting because of the grandios ideas such as. great business ideas that can't loose, pressured speach(talking really fast) irratibility, not sleeping. spending money they don't have. This is a very good blog, a beginner’s guide to abnormal psychology.
Short, clear and simple; and you can even post your question and contact the author regarding particular subject you are interested in
