If you have trouble paying the complete monthly balance, go with one that has a very low interest rate.
If that is not a problem for you then why not choose one that has an awards program and earn points for flights and other incentives.
Not knowing where you reside I can only say that in Australia, Virgin has a very good and reasonable (rates) card.
The one I have is outrageously expensive ( a high annual fee and a interest rate of over 19%) but my business expenses rack up the frequent flyer points and I travel regularly, so on occasion have free flights. Most major banks here have these cards, ANZ, CBA and Westpac. Most majors also have cheaper ones too.
There is a consumer website that compares all the cards on the market:

Hope this is of some help.

It depends.

Some people need a credit card with a low interest rate.
Some people need a card that maximizes their rewards.
Some people need a credit card that offers no fee 0% balance transfers.

My solution is to not limit yourself to one card. Have many cards. Have one card that gives you 5% back at the grocery store, gas station and drug stores. Have another that gives you 5% back on office supplies. Have another that gives you 3% back on large purchases ...

If you carry a balance get one that gives you 0% on purchases for 12 months. Get another with a low APR.

If you already have a balance on a card get a new card that offers 0% for 12 months for a no fee balance transfer.

Capital One...and not just from their "what's in your wallet" commercials. I'm impressed with their fraud department. On one occassion, they conacted me after I made an enormous purchase. Yup, less than half an hour had passed when they called me, just to make sure it was I who had made the purchase.
