I had a tat removed about a year ago - took a few visits, and was a bit sore, but now it is completely gone. If I tan in that area, there is slight discoloration - I use a tad of fake tanning lotion in that area to hide the discoloration. Dermatologist said it will slowly dissapear after a few years.

I would say it is worth the effort - you sound like me - you want it gone because you feel like you are carrying around baggage from a past decision. Having it gone is like having an anvil off your shoulders. Good luck with it!

Its funny that you should ask, because im 16 and i want a tattoo as well, but i totally agree with you. However the answer is more complex then that. There are plenty of career opportunities for tattooed people (i know bunches of them), so that rules out the tough guy attitude of not hiring for scummy tattooed people. Nobody really needs to justify the point that the tattoo removal industry is just as big as the application industry, the point should be made though that if people want their tattooes removed, that's their problem. For those of us who want to happily live in the 'now' scenario don't need to worry about them. I know that when i get my tattoo, i am going to enjoy it for the next 40 or so years, because i don't plan on living that long after i get 'old'. You say you can't stand kids with tattooes, I find it difficult to justify why someone would have such a hard time getting over it...that's the way life is. Fashion, fashion, fashion. We can't help it if you veterans find it frustrating that we fresh skins don't want to live in the cobweb stone age. Might i add that i wouldn't want to be hired

My tattoo was about 6 inches by 4 inches ,mostly green and purple in colour,I had 16 sessions of laser over a year in total ,it faded it but not to the point where it was barely visable it was still very noticeable just the colours not so vibrant,in the end i just got a cover up.Laser is so very painful,my arm would swell and it felt like a bad burn then blister and bleed and this was after every session.

A friend of mine had a black armband she wanted to remove. Money was not an issue for her. After a year+ worth of lasering it had faded down about 2/3. You could still see it and there wasn't much else she could do. She gave up and used an Ace bandage or makeup to cover it. It actually drew more attention after the laser treatment because people wanted to know why it looked so weird.

My pal tried to have one removed but even after a number of painful sessions, and lots of soreness afterwards it was still quite visible, I believe the success of removal depends on which colour it is, the darker colours, ie black being harder to remove. Best of luck and seriously look into where you are going to use as they are pointing lasers at your skin so its a good idea that they have an idea about what they are doing...

It works but you have to have repeated sessions and it hurts a lot maybe even more than the tattoo did.

My cousin is in the process of getting her tramp stamp removed. After 10 visits it was still really visible and barely looked changed. Its a long, painful, and expensive process.
