Cos its a religious injunction especially among women, I don't know why most people restrict that to only religious places, it's like saying whatever you learned from the mosques, churches or synagogues is only applicable within the confine of such places. I wonder where all these selectivity to religious injunctions started.

4.Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
9. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.

Because evil has worked its way into everything. And it has made us think it
is pious, respectful. But clothing, especially made from animals, interferes with
spiritual energies, that God can send us through the crown chakra!
Like I say to people. Don't stand there with your head down looking into Hell
when you pray. LOOK UP, like King David said. And experience the glory of our
Lord!

Christianity teaches that men should be uncovered and women should be covered but only when praying or prophesying.
1 Corinthians 11:7 "For a man ought not to have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man. 8 For man does not originate from woman, but woman from man; 9 for indeed man was not created for the woman's sake, but woman for the man's sake. 10 Therefore the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

It's a gesture of submission to authority -- theoretically to the authority of god, but actually to the authority of men.
