MP3 stands for MPEG3, which is a compressed audio format. Its a lossy compression standard. ie the original audio CDs are lossy compressed to make MP3 files. Usually the compression softwares compress the original audio file to 1/12th its size to make to MP3 (Normal).

On the other hand, VCD stands for Video Compact Disc. This discs contain video files (DAT format), files supporting it and files used to bring menu functions.

The players should have the respective specifications (MP3 or VCD) to be play a file of that format.

MP3 refers to the audio files only. A 700MB CD can store upto 160 5minute songs, wheras in a audio CD u can have a maximum of 20 songs.Also in a MP3 u can read the name of the song and movie and other infos. VCD is video cd,it may be a movie vcd or video songs,..thats the difference

mp3 write data only and it take more small space than vcd

mp3 is an audio format. vcd is a disk with a format for vidoes (mpg, mpeg, avi, etc.)
