I read that even though regular drinking has health benefits, drinking too much can result in more disadvantages than benefits. So what would be the limit to have most benefit?
I have about a quarter bottle (180 ml) of whisky when i drink. the alcohol content is 42% i believe.
I know it depends on person to person and weight and size. But what would be the general figure?

to be honest the doc says 1 ONLY ONE GLAS OF WINE IS GOOD FOR THE HEART ARTIES. If you comsume to much you will destroy your liver and kidneys. which are two of the most important pieces inside your body.
sadly most over consume and dont listen to reason. i myself was once a very heavy drinker at a young age. now at the age of 37 i see what damage alcohol has done. Just think before you make a decision to "get drunk" it aint all its cracked up to be.

When they say for health benefits they mean wine - and red wine to be more specific - for the heart and cholesterol - and only one glass per day not a 1/4 bottle. What your drinking will kill your liver and that much on a daily basis is too much!

you know what dude...bill davis had a stiff one when he got home to buffy and jodie on family affair. Ward cleaver tilted a few martinis with the beave around. Darren stevens and larry tate did with the witch around. They were all good productive men. Drink every few days doing that at night when you dont have to drive would be just fine...every other day or daily might be pushing it but hey, we all need a vice or less hassles in life.

what is your health? a diabetic person should only consume around 3 or 4 drinks per week. a person that is hypoglysiamic{SORRY CANT SPELL} should stay away from hard liquior it has a tendecy to lower the sugar very fast. beer raises the sugar because of the fat amount of carbs.somebody on a diet really needs to watch their carbs in beer and stick to clear liquior.

I would say about a glass of wine a day would be debateable, Ive known of Italians living to be 106 years old and saying that it was do to the glass of red wine a day. But, a bottle of wine a day is definitely not good for your liver or brain function.

Beer no more than a 30 pack per day
Wine no more than 1 gallon per day
hard liquor no more than 1/5 per day

stay at or below the above amounts and you will have a happy healthy life

wine has the positive effects more than hard stuff....

I am not aware of any spefic health advantages from whisky.

red wine on the other hand
has anti-oxidants, is helpful to the stomach,
and many others,
and I think I read somewhere that its like one glass a day , but I'm not an expert.....

Anything over a gallon jug of "Dry Red" per day is usually considered "excessive" in today's "pollitically correct" world, I'm afraid, judge yourself accordingly...........................
