Downtown is always a great place to stay. Just stay the hell away from the Strathcona Hotel....complete dump.
Try the Intercontinental on Front Street. Great Hotel. It is close to public transit, the CN Tower, The ACC and a couple of great restaurants: The Loose Moose or the Lone Star. There is a ton of shopping along the 'PATH"....http://www.toronto.ca/path/index.htm

The most expensive area of Toronto is an area called Yorkville !!
Exclusive shops and restaurants. Very expensive designer wear. The hotel in Yorkville is called The Four Seasons Hotel.
I can also recommend a very posh cafe on the 51st floor of the Manulife building called Panorama cafe. Very nice view of Toronto!!
Enjoy our city of Toronto!!

well depends on what youre going to be doing. if youre going with young kids and want to be in nature (blah blah blah) you can try oakville. beautiful. its a little outside toronto but still very cozy and family like.
then if you want to party and go shopping and do all those things staying downtown would be prime.
or your third option is to get a hotel a little bit further from downtown, like maybe the 'high park' area that you can have peace and relaxation but still be close enough to downtown.

i exploit to stay downtown Toronto. in case you choose for to stay downtown this is costly. flow on line and come across a stable deal. while you're down city there are various places you may walk to or take a cab. There are adequate issues to verify down there for some days which you will no longer ought to undertaking too a strategies out of the downtown middle. For only 2 days you will no longer choose for a subway/highway vehicle/bus bypass, you need to purchase tickets or tokens in case you do no longer choose for to stroll or use cabs. there are various sights downtown and in case you seek Toronto sights you additionally could make a itemizing of those downtown which you particularly choose for to verify and come across a motel close this is on your funds. only be care finished, if the motel is only too affordable it probable rents rooms to hookers and only isn't a advantageous place to stay, except that's what you're searching for.

Toronto was forced into amalgamation, and no longer has neighbourhoods. However, it has ethnic zones. Try the Greek one along the Danforth east from Broadview. Great food, and lots of sidewalk 'cafes' where you can't smoke, but can enjoy the car fumes from the 10 mph traffic.

I'd stay right downtown. Toronto's downtown is generally quite safe, liveable, and has a lot of attractions.
