I have a ailment and was wondering whether to buy some chicken soup today. I can get it in a packet as dry powder - and it is thick soup. I prefer this to tinned chicken soup.

What do you think?

The chicken soup can really help when you're ill but only if you cook it from fresh vegetables and chicken meat. The soup has proteins and vitamins, these are the ones that make you recover.
I do not advise you to use those packed powder soups: they are not natural and are full of chemicals.

If you have a cold or the flu, yes. Thin broth type soups are better than thick soups.

It only counts if someone who cares lots about you makes it for you. It's the attention of being looked after and the vitamins in fresh soup that help illnesses

chicken soup has the following benefits:

1: steam: helps unblock stuffy nose, and with sore throat.
2: salty, easier to taste, when sick
3: its not difficult to chew or swallow, ( you'd eat more than if you were trying to eat something that hurt to swallow, and thus helps build strength
4: pasta for quick energy, chicken for long term energy,
veggies for nutrients.

I make chicken soup for illness in my faimly and it is helpful.
ours is thicker. ( of course if the thickening agent is dairy based, it will lead to more mucus)

there was a study done recently which was on the internet which says that there are enzymes in chicken soup which may help recovery. won't make you better on it's own, but it will help.

Yes, it's a proven fact that it is good for colds and flu. It won't necessarily cure them, but it will make you feel better.
