These are something I have found it says, but its english transalation, and I still cannot believe that its all true, because no religion can teach such hatred..

Qur’an 3.28 Let not the believers take the unbelievers for friends rather than believers; and whoever does this, he shall have nothing of (the guardianship of) Allah, but you should guard yourselves against them, guarding carefully; and Allah makes you cautious of (retribution from) Himself; and to Allah is the eventual coming.

Qur’an 3:56 “As for those disbelieving infidels, I will punish them with a terrible agony in this world and the next. They have no one to help or save them.”

Qur’an 4.89 They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah’s way; but if they turn back, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.

Qur’an 8:12 cp. 8:60 “Instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers”; “smite above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them”

depends on your definition of a non-muslim..

someone who doesn't follow Islam = is a potential muslim, respect their beliefs, look out for them and treat them with kindness..... if you see injustice speak out even if it is a muslim being unjust to a non-muslim. Set a good example and offer them the chance to learn about Islam. You cannot cause them to accept Islam (convert) only God will do that at the right time in the right way if it is to be. There is no compulsion in religion.

someone who learns about Islam, rejects it outright and uses the information to hurt muslims (for example if someone learnt how to pray so they could sneak up to someone in the mosque and kill them or to be a spy). It is these people that the term kafir applies to and there it says to defend yourselves and your family and friends and neighbours against them (which makes sense)

Remember the Quran can only be understood in contect of the events at the time each section was revealed. Some of the guidance was for people then, some is for people of all times. (eg the bits about treating slaves kindly and freeing them if you can is not relevant now slavery is no more ! :) )

It is easy to quote out of context which is why I haven't quoted. You will either have to trust me or read it all for yourself with the relevant history and a sound understanding of ancient arabic :)

It says that they have a right to live in peace, and to do trade with them and have relations, just not Share governmental secrets (meaning of "don't take the jews and christians as [Awlia']")
also, the non-muslims living in Islamic lands, have many rights which were not recognised by other nations during that time, like the right to live, defend himself, defend his money and honour.

***As long as they do no harm to muslims and islam.***

[2.62] Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve.

some verses were Revealed in times of war, and have special rules, but the default view on them is peaceful, just don't read the verses out of context.

now that depends on what you mean..... the Quran many times references kafirs (those who don't believe in One God) in a very negative way as the basis of Islam is monotheism. Christians and Jews however are looked at in a positive way in the Quran

Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a righteous life, will receive their recompense from their Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

-Holy Quran verse 2:62

Here are some quotes taken directly from the holy Quran that will answer your question.

With regards to those who believe in one God, Jews, Christians and Muslims:

[2:62] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a righteous life, will receive their recompense from their Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

[29:46] Do not argue with the people of the scripture (Jews, Christians, and Muslims) except in the nicest possible manner - unless they transgress - and say, "We believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you, and our god and your god is one and the same; to Him we are submitters."

Basic Law Regulating Relations With Unbelievers (i.e. anyone who doesn't call themselves a Muslim, Christian or Jew.)

[60:8] GOD does not enjoin you from befriending those who do not fight you because of religion, and do not evict you from your homes. You may befriend them and be equitable towards them. GOD loves the equitable.

[60:9] GOD enjoins you only from befriending those who fight you because of religion, evict you from your homes, and band together with others to banish you. You shall not befriend them. Those who befriend them are the transgressors.

Finally

[7:199] You shall resort to pardon, advocate tolerance, and disregard the ignorant.

Seems a bit of an ambiguous idealogy, but the fact that it contains instructions to kill non believers will to some become the will of Allah.

Respect the non-Muslims and their belief and culture. Live in peace with all communities regardless or religion.
No religion teaches bad ways.
