Is QQ the same with ICQ? Which one is more popular in Hong Kong?

QQ is NOT the same as ICQ. QQ is a completely chinese animal, its presence is almost nil out of China (at least in non overseas chinese communities). English version is available but has many bugs. ICQ is not that used in Chinese audience other than English speaking professionals.
Both QQ and ICQ are losing market share in Hong Kong in recent years. MSN seems more popular, Yahoo has an acceptable presence while Skype is making a breakthrough too.

Yes, QQ is the parent company of ICQ. ICQ is more popular because is offers more. As for IMing people seem to use Microsoft.

QQ is still the most popular amongst Chinese speakers, but MSN and Yahoo are widely used now.

MSN is most common many people dont like QQ it is odd with very poor mic quality
