no, i still recommend plasma TV's because of their higher pixel count and resolution. if you have lotsa bucks, go for the swivel wide screen plasma TV of Hitachi.

Hey, have you ever read these other answers?? There are FACTS and there are boogered-up Facts--usually because the facts have been passed on by word of mouth...over and over again.
OK....FACTS
Don't use plasma, especially if you PAUSE YOUR GAME.....
BUY A BRAND NAME YOU'VE KNOWN FOR YEARS
(you want to get service for it...find what brands are serviced in your town)
LCD is more RUGGED...
But the NEW TECHNOLOGY with LED LAMPS instead of the MERCURY VAPOR LAMPS.....IT SETS a Level playing field for.....
LCD, DLP and LCOS technologies
(Sony calls it's LCOS technology SXRD in the model number)
I still like LCD but the >>better picture<< would be LCOS ,then DLP, then LCD.....
But >>ruggedness/reliability<< is LCD, then DLP, Then LCOS.....
AND.....LCOS can generate image retention IF YOU PLAY for hours and hours......nothing like seeing a football grid in the middle of your favorite TV show!!

i could get a psthree, whether you're no longer into video games. It performs DVDs, Blu-Ray, and this is made with the help of Sony that could work together with the Sony television particularly properly, as properly as aesthetically experience the television's bezel. The HDTV won't "upscale" the SD DVDs. you only could desire to be certain that the SD DVDs are in Widescreen format. the image high quality won't be able to be better with the help of hardware; it could only be shown on the well-known wherein it turn into produced. final analysis, the psthree won't make it easier to down, and this is the main inexpensive Blu-Ray participant on the industry in the present day, with many greater helpful factors than only a action picture participant. don't get an HD-DVD participant. they are going to be affordable in case you spot them, yet HD-DVD has been killed off and only isn't in production to any extent further. Blu-Ray gained the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD conflict.

everyone disagrees with me, but i would get a computer monitor. you can get them 20 inches diagonal now, flat screen, for less than 200 bucks at newegg. it will have a resolution much higher than any tv, a faster refresh rate, and take up less space. most of the new high def tv's are showing 1366x768, max, and the signal put through them is generally much less. even a very cheap widescreen lcd monitor like that which i mentioned will have around 1440x900 resolution, and for about a hundred bucks more, 1600x1200 resolution. if you have a very sharp lcd monitor right in front of you, not only is it better for your eyes, but it looks much better than having a giant screen tv with 800x600 resolution, and viewed across the room. i understand if you don't like this if you have a bunch of people in the room with you, but for just one person, especially with small text becoming more and more prevalent, i'd get a monitor.
