i have 5 1/4 component speakers on every door...........so 4 speakers total. ........will one 12" alpine type r sub be enough or will it overpower highs and mids??? do i need 2 type r subs??? i really want my car 2 BUMP but im afraid it will overpower the other speakers.......my 89 jaguar wasnt made 2 fit bigger door speakers.....it used to have 4 inch doors but i bought 5 1/4 speakers customized into my doors.......if i push only 1 type r to the limit will it do the job?

12 is plenty. instead of going bigger, you'd want to get a pair of 10's but seeing as you only have 4 speakers, 12 is enough. actually i would still recommend getting 2 10's. 2 12's will probably be too much for your car to handles as older cars have older technology, thus older alternators and if you are playing music 24/7 as i do, you would manage to drain you battery. but alpine definately makes premium speakers. good choice!

personally i am yet to hear a alpine product i like. i think there really overated. so i am going to say shop around, and see if anything out there sounds better to you.

It all depends on what amp you get...also, what type of box is it in? I'm assuming the subs in the trunk.
