Laser Tag! Seriously, I've never had so much fun in my life.

Everyone thinks its a kids game, but you can go to all night sessions and man are they fun! Hire the venue out for the night and invite heaps of people. Seriously, laugh and a halfs right there.

Rent a hotel room, grab quicky food/finger food, get all your friends together, set up a table and have a Texas Hold'em poker tournament. Everyone puts in a certain amount of money, like 5 or 10 bucks, whoever wins the tourney wins the money (and buys the beer!) Have some other stuff to do like movies, nail polish/spa stuff for ladies/gents who go out during the tournament. And...happy birthday to your or your friend!

Hire a house near the beach or in the country for the weekend & get all your friends & family to come. They can all chip in for the cost of renting the house too!
If not, you can always go paintballing, or hire a charter boat & spend the day on a lake or bay. Um, how about organising all your friends & family to meet up at your fav restaurant, their shout of course!
Personally, I like the boat & house idea but if money is tight, you can always just get your nearest & dearest to spend the day/night are your place laughing & having a good time, each person brings a plate of food & a drink, that way your costs are lowered & you dont have to worry about rushing about getting things ready before your guests arrive :o)
