Hi, I have been really soul searching lately and I feel like something's missing in my life. I had a rough childhood and my teenage years weren't great, so I turned away from religion completely. But deep down, I like the idea of community and caring that goes hand in hand with faith, but I want to know which religion or denomination is most accepting and friendly to newcomers. My parents were Catholic, and I just don't feel it's right for me, so what religion or religions are there that are friendly and can provide me with that sense of community that I'm looking for? Please, only serious answers, I'm completely serious about my question and I don't appreciate any replies that poke fun or are mean-spirited. Thanks.

Jesus is your answer! And it's not about a religion it is about a relationship with Jesus Christ. His love for us is so amazing. Many people may say that some Christians are not very loving or kind or many are hypocrites. Some time this is true for we are only human and we all make mistakes. The good thing is Jesus is the truth and the only truth. Many other religions out there clam to be the truth and are only a lie from Satan! If you truly are searching for the truth Jesus will show himself to you and he will always love you! I would encourage you to read in the bible the book of John. It show us of his great love for us and what he went through for us to know his love! If you have any questions I would love to talk to you more, and even help you find a church in the area where you live if you would like. Please just email me and I would love to help you understand more about what it takes to have a relationship with Jesus. May God bless you today!!!

No religion will give you what your looking for only God is the most accepting being. To find him all you need is your heart, that's the place to look for, when ever you need Him just talk to Him, He'll listen all you need is faith and a little patience. Religions are all imperfect, due the human lack. Always divided because nobody, no person will be always right or will make the other ones to believe in what he/she believes. Many religions, almost all of them, forgot the scent of why they were created in the first place. Many people are using religions to get their own personal goals like hurting the others who don't think like him/her or to make their selves rich with the money of the followers. So as you can see only God can be trust, like I told you before all what you need is inside you. Trust Him and He'll guide you towards Him and in now-a-days that's something not many religion, if any, will do as you can see every body talks about Jesus, God or Ala, etc. Are they a good example of Jesus, God or Ala? Killing echo thers because they all have different ideas. Jesus followers fighting and talking against each others, Isn't Jesus and God the same? And Shiites killing Sunnies and viceversa? Was Ala or Mohammad Shiite or Sunnie? No. All religions are always talking about peace, but Have you any of the main religions in peace with the others? What does the Koran or the Bible says about people who kill innocents? Do you thing they are following what is writen in their own sacred books?
God is the only way and you know where He is. Good luck.

Many people telling you about be a Muslim, sounds good, but, Would you accept a religion where women are inferior and under the men? You can't come out with out a man who's isn't your housband or a related to him. Wearing a swiming siut is a sin. They are not even allowed to vote, except in some Muslim countries. Will you agree to be the 2nd or the 3rd wife? Would you be part of a religion where be part of a faction can cost you your life or the life or your loved ones? They are all true, but they all forget the very same thing they are telling you: "If you kill an inocent man is like you kill all humanity." Quoram 5:32.

Another many is telling you to follow Jesus, Which one? The one who permitted the killing of many during the crossades? The one for whom Jehova Witnesses, Christians, "Mormons", Baptisms, etc. are fighting? They don't understand that it doesn't matter if God, Jesus and the Holy Sprit are one, they are missing the most important thing of the God's plan, the sacrifice of Jesus. The salvation of many. They started since the begining with the discrepancies, right after Jesus' resurection. Perhaps they are always against the 6th. Commandment: "You shall not kill" i think is the 6th. but the number means nothing, whats means is the commendment.

So, as you can see the human factor had been an obstacle fopr God's/Alla's plan. Salvation is an individual idea and mater. it was writen "With the law they shall be judged and without the law they shall be judged."

As I told you, just look for God inside your heart, where He should live after you have looked at Him. He'll never leave you alone.
P.S.
After a few hours of my posting, no one hasn't rate me yet, the truth always will rise up.

Well technically its impossible to say which "religion" is the most welcoming since the religion itself doesn't greet you and say hello; its followers do; so one must ask which religion's followers are the most welcoming. Naturally this entirely depends on the people at that specific church. One Christian church may not even look over their shoulder when you enter, but in another twenty people may come up and greet you. The same thing can be true of every religion. If you don't really have any strong religious views yet, go ahead and church-hop, look at the major local paper (if you're in a big city it'd be the city's paper, if you're in a smaller town try looking at a regional county paper) and just circle all the churches near you that you'd like to visit. Bring a notebook and pencil if you want and write down a quick note about the music, style of sermon, hospitality, and if you stumble across a great congregation, you can put the notebook down and settle yourself down in that church. Good luck in your searching.

subhanallah,

For ages the questions of faith and God have always been questioned by countless men and women. The idea of a caring community itself can only be realize only when the members of the community realize the importance of religious life and the belief and adoration God as the glue that binds the structure to a solid foundation. The search of God is not just a mere child's play. It is a personal and an intimate journey where one acknowledges and seeks a relationship with an all supreme being. As in many relationship, one seeks the purpose, the gains and the goals of the relationship. So before deciding, ask yourself what is the ultimate purpose of your search, what you seek to gain and what is your goal. Is it to:

1) Find purpose and reason in all the pandemonia and lunacy in life?
2) Find peace in yourself, in your families and ultimately your community?
3) Have a personal and intimate relationship with God where you can worship and communicate to Him directly without any mediators or middleman?
4) To be able to communicate in worship and in remembrance of Him everyday and in every single moment?

If you answer YES for every one of these question, then my answer for you is seek ISLAM

"Let there be no compulsion In religion: Truth stands out Clear from Error: whoever Rejects Evil and believes In God hath grasped The most trustworthy Handhold, that never breaks. And God heareth And knoweth all things."
Quran 2:256

why not do a little search on a religion that is closest to your heart and your own beliefs and thoughts
dont chose a religion based on what people tell you
dont work round a religion but let the religion work round you

this is a nice link that tells you about most religions in a non biased way
http://www.religioustolerance.org/aboutus.htm

personally the religions to me that seem the most tolerant and welcoming are ..
Paganism , Wiccan , Buddhist and Hindu
and of course my own which is spiritualism
but they are all very different in their belief systems , so this isn't something you should take on without some study into each
all the best xx

none. religion by it's nature is close-minded and prejudice. you might not know this but even buddha wasn't a buddhist, so to follow buddhism is to follow evryone else but buddha.

you might want to become spirtual and forget religionas all together. religions get between people and their gods...just read the gospels, diamond sutra or any of the books out there and educate yourself and don't listen to religious people, because the very act of being religious is evidence that you are going to be led down the wrong path.

You could visit a non-denominational church. My parents were Catholic and I didn't feel it was right for me.(Not cutting down, it is just a personal preference.) My husband introduced me to a full gospel non-denomination church, and it really has helped me.
I feel that a person should chose with their heart. It may take a couple of visits to a couple of churches, but you are on a journey.

for the religion itself you need to go back to the teachings...

but as a religious studies major i often go to diff religious sites. i've been to very welcoming places of each of the major religions.... and i think each of the major world religions also has places of worship that are not so welcoming... it just depends upon the people and the atmosphere. what you need to focus on is the scriptures and the beliefs of each. if you want.... i have collected a great deal of research on most of the major world religions and would probably be able to help you with questions you had. feel free to email me.

for myself, it was Islam, submission to God, that put my soul at rest

peace and blessings to all

The greatest religion is love. The first teaching of a religionnis to love yourself. This is hoe you will be able to love others. read any religious book and its fundamental teachings. All are nothing but the same. every one follows his own religious principles and tries to reach closer to the God. Let it be Budhhism, Hinduism or Christianity, all says nothing but the one love everyone and be religious.

do search it n try to know it n if u get convinced then adapt it. but dont judge the religion from its peoples.as u wont get the pure followers everywhere.... there are black sheeps in every religion who bring defam to their religion......better u compare it with other religion n whichever touches your mind just go for it.
