Why do some who confess to be Christians engage in slander, mockery, and backbiting? Jesus himself said that man will be help accountable for every word he speaks. I ask this question because a certain Church had a group of people in it that nearly destroyed my life!! Nearly drove me to suicide. And even when I desparately needed help (I had a death in the family) They where all gun ho for about 1 day and after that it was back to the evil speaking again. I am convinced that the most evil people on the face of the earth exist in churches. Because I have seen it with my own eyes. And there is nothing worse than someone knowing Jesus, knowing what right and wrong is, and doing the opposite. At least in the Satanic church, They don't know any better! They do what they do out of ignorance. But for somone who does know, there is no excuse!!!

I'm tired of hearing this "its human nature" CRAP! There is no excuse at all! NONE! It may be human nature to kill someone you don't like, but the consequences are severe! Spiritual murder is no different! People make excuses for murdering souls. New converts are not aware of alot of things and lack knowledge. When someone destroys one of the Lords children the consequences are severe!

I wonder if your Pastor ever preached on the evil that is found in the tongue. If he had he surely must have covered James 3:4-8 "Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by firerce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."
I think that you've seen the action of this poison first hand. The Bible has long preached against gossip and evil speech but people, then as now, have chosen to ignore God and go their own way. These people who have spoken against you, whether what they said was true or not, have committed a great evil, not only against you but against God. There is no excuse for it and God certainly will not excuse it.
What they need to do is get down on their knees and confess their sin to God and then come to you and ask your forgiveness. Unless someone strongly confronts them with their evil, however, it is highly unlikey that they will.
I would certainly recommend that you find another church and start attending there. There is no reason why you must continue to submit to this kind of slander.
The hardest part for you will be that, at some point, you must forgive them for what they have done to you. Matthew 6:14&15 says: "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." I'm sorry because I know this will be hard but God has a reason for it. He knows that if you continue with the acid of hatred and anger inside you that it will eat you away and destroy you. You will only find peace when you are able to follow the example of Jesus on the cross when he asked the Father to forgive his persecutors.
Of course they should know better if they are Christians (church membership doesn't guarantee that they are) but remember, "To whom much is given, much will be required". If they are Christians and have engaged in this behavior then their punishment will be fitting to the magnitude of their sin.

Jesus said not everyone that calls me Lord will enter the kingdom of God. Just cause I follow soccer doesn't make me a soccer player. Just as going to a church doesn't make you a christian.
Let God sort them out and find a descent church.
Also if you focus on people you won't follow God for too long.
My pastor has a saying in our church- if you find the perfect church, don't go there as you may spoil it.

All the best

Being Christian does not mean you are not human and have the same flaws of character. But you are absolutely right when you say that there is no excuse for it. Tell them to read Rom 3 or find another church where Christian virtues are more adhered to.

homicide isn't unique to the dying of the physique. you are able to kill somebody which incorporate your words, homicide their spirit, lead them to fall from grace. words of hate are like daggers to the middle. There are purely 2 styles of issues that come out of one's mouth, advantages and curses. God is often purely, you purely would possibly no longer understand or understand the justifications however the justifications are great and a fabulous style of. however the version between an atheist and a repentant believer is, atheists do no longer turn faraway from sin and that they do no longer have confidence interior the savior our salvation.

churches are like bars, some of them are snooty and stuck up and filled with folks who will pick a fight with anybody, and then there are the ones where u walk in and feel like part of a family. I'm sorry you had to find a bad one to go to, but there are still good ones out there. Would you stop going to bars entirely after finding one bad one? or would you look around until you found one that felt like home?

It is not that Jesus places them in the same category as much as he is simply saying that these are unacceptable behaviors for those who would be worthy 'stories' to speak unto God.....

But, notice that these all, are judged individually... They cannot be judged the same....

Imagine:

Two criminals.... One steals because he can... and one steals because he has a perilous need...... Both steal irregardless of their circumstances, but one would sympathize with him who needs than him who can.....

Wouldn't you say?..... Therefore, they cannot be judged the same. God knows the hearts of men....
