It's slowly dying. I've seen the same thing happen before. You might try taking it to a local TV repair shop -- I'm amazed at how little some repairs cost. I can't remember if this is an expensive fix or not.

Sorry but this is the DEATH KNELL for that TV......

Blinking picture means the Color guns are worn out....
Some Techs like me will adjust the Screen Control up and restore your picture, but it seems to last only a couple days or weeks at most.

Buy a NEW HDTV, do not get a SDTV.

Buy a KNOWN BRAND NAME TV, not a weirdo goofy-named TV (you'll want to buy something that is Serviced by a local repair company or nearby-company....so look in the Yellow pages for Authorized Repair and choose those brands above all others)

Lastly buy what YOU like if nothing above makes you happy......

here is what is happening, the AKB circuit (automatic Kine Bias) monitors the 3 guns inside the crt. they need to be within a certain percentage of current draw to one another. if one of these guns starts drawing to much current the AKB cannot balance them out to produce the correct color balance on the screen and when this happens it shuts the video sIgnals off to the crt. This is not a "death knell" with a good CRT restorer you can balance out the emissions inside the crt and this should correct the problem. and the TV should work for years to come. I have run into this problem many times on older sonys

It most definitely is not the pic tube !! Reggieman I think you may have spent 24 years in the office and popped your head round the workshop door occasionally. Since when did a blinking pic mean the tube has gone ? .
My guess is a dryed out electro in the power supply unit !!!

check your visual inputs to make sure they are not loose. if that doesn't help and the tv is new, you could return it or have it checked out by a technician
