i am a sophomore at Vanderbilt University. I turn 21 in a couple weeks. alll my life i've always been very driven ambitious and determined. i dated once in high school but it wasn't very serioiius. now that i'm in college i'm still about my school work and trying to do something with my life. sometimes i think that having a girlfriend wouldn't be a "bad thing" i wouldn't mind having a female perspective on a lot of things. i wouldn't mind sharing my thoughts and dreams with a girl, especially if she is the right one. i think i've met this girl. the question i have to ask myself is do i want a relationship? i've always told my self that i would make an exceptiion if the girl is willing to accept me as a person and some of my struggles. i do believe i can go this route with this girl i've been pursuing. she is a freshman but she seems way more mature than most freshman females. do you think that having a good girl in my life with help me see things differently?

Yes having a girl in your life will make you see alot of things differently. It's a really good thing if that's the person you want to share it with. Just make sure your ready and take it slow so no one gets hurt. My ex is 19 and I'm 29. We fell in love so deeply and everything was amazing, until one day he totally freaked out and decided he was to young for a serious relationship and left me. Now he calls and tells me he loves me but he can't be with me and it's a huge heart breaking mess. I've never loved anyone or felt the way I feel with him ever and I'm so tore up inside because I lost the best thing in my life. Saddest part is that he truly does love me he's just scared and he let it all go. So before you go getting all intimate and falling in love just make sure it's what you want and take things slow. There's no pain greater in the world than loving someone that you can have.

My son thought the same thing, and he has been hurt 3 times by girls saying, after going out with them for over a year, that they don't have time for relationships and they need to concentrate on their studies. Have tons of female friends, but don't have a relationship.
It will not help you. You seem to have your goals and dreams. Follow them.

Yes. You have some type of imagination about your dream girl. Watch out for that type of person and talk to her about your ambitions your expectations etc. Listen carefully what that person tells you of her ambitions and her expectations etc. Consider all those things and decide. There must be some commitments you have to do. Best Wishes.

Don't change your focus. If the right woman comes along, she'll accomodate your schedule and need for success; just don't compromise your ideals for a quick-fix. It never works out, and you'll kick yourself later for having taken your eye off the ball...

Matey, if you don't know now, you never will, maybe you should resign yourself to the fact that you are the other way inclined!
