Try a surplus dealer in your area that specializes in home building products
these types of places usually have discontinued and limited items that
take up space that stores want to get rid of. Also try an architectual salvage
place or a similar place that salvages building and lumber.Good luck.

do a Yahoo search and certainly check out Los Angeles. They have everything Vintage. If you are closer to NYC then go that a way. It may not be cheap but you will get what u want!

i know you can get special paint to cover worktops, but you have to varnish over that, i remember seeing it in a diy programme, so ask at your local stores, at least you will get the colour you want, and it won't break the bank?
