Anytime you find a preacher or leader denouncing one activity or another, you'll end up finding him/her engaged in it.

Interesting how Jesus called these denouncers "hypocrites".
"You who judge...Hypocrites! don't you do the same things you speak against!?"

Look at Haggard. Want to end up like him? Jesus would have been riding his hypocrisy in the papers for 3 years before Haggard would've had Bush put him down (maybe make it look like the Iraqi's did it tho)

Judging others means that the "law of death" is still alive in you!! So please, please, stop doing it. Your standards aren't "higher". They're just puffed up. Read 2Cor3

(By the way, I don't judge people who judge. They just kill me.)

I'm glad that there are Christians who are willing to speak out against their own, especially in matters like this.

You have my total respect.

Peace.

Honey... there is more than one type of judging. In 1 Corinthians 2:15 it says that a spiritual person "judges all things". So there is a type of judging which IS appropriate... it is more close to discernment, such as a doctor does to help a patient. In the Greek there are two different words for judge; Jesus said not to do the condemning type judgement, but He did not mean the discerning type, and I think a lot of people get the two types confused and put them together. So if people are spiritual, they will look at the problems of others and seek ways to help them, not condemn them. God bless!

interesting you noticed a key counseling technique in discovering a persons problem. For instance if a person is hollering loudly at those who judge then likely they are being judgemental themselves. Ring any bells for you???

Judging in the scripture oyu sort of site actually means condemn, and not to differentiate from one behavior to another. If for instance you are condemning this Haggard guy then that would be error that might cause you to be condemned for a similar mistake. He apparently engaged in as much and noe gets the same in return.

Saying you would live a prurer life by praying regularly is judgementall but not condemning. Saying I wish someone to go to hell because they are gay would be, being condemning.

with no judgement teaching is restricted so to say do not judge at all is clearly not what scripture advised and people who are not teachable (humble) will lash out with this do not judge the second someone points out where they are in error.

This is such a misused scripture.

In fact NT Christians are to judge various matters of right and wrong. 1Cr 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

But I don't believe they have the right to judge whether a person is saved or not. This can get a little tricky.

We are suppose to judge, right from wrong, moral from immoral, and we are to judge whether or not something is good and uplifting for us or if it isnt. We should denounce sin and speak against it, but if someone participates or is actively engaged in that sin, we shouldnt judge a person based on their weaknesses. In 3 Nephi 18:32 in the Book of Mormon, Jesus says, " Nevertheless, ye shall not cast him out of your synagogues, or your places of worship, for unto such shall ye continue to minister; for ye know not but what they will return and repent, and come unto me with full purpose of heart, and I shall heal them; and ye shall be the means of bringing salvation unto them." Now, I ask the question, can we truly pray for someone and minister to someone with full intentions of the heart if all we can do is criticize and judge them? I think not...

I know i aint got no room to judge anyone else, but then i realise i made a lot of mistakes in my life and aint perfect neither. Some folks just need the wake up call that they aint perfect and they make mistakes too, and can be wrong

Christians are cautioned not to make judgments about whether any particular person is going to hell, because judgment belongs to God alone, and Jesus is the only judge.

There is no prohibition against preaching about the sinfulness of certain acts and behaviors, and of the distinct possibility that one who engages in them might end up in hell.

wait till you see the thumbs down on this one! great question !

In my experience Christians who are overt are good living for a living or they are hiding from a shy personality. My experience of true (and to its fullest meaning) Christianity is the individual doesn't find it necessary to ram it down your throat at every opportunity. I worked with 2 guys and a woman for 2 years and the first time i knew any of them were Christians is when i didn't take my normal lunch break out of the office, and they prayed together. TRUELY LOVELY PEOPLE.

Very few Christians are really christian. The ones who are are awesome. But the vast majority are moronic idiots.

That's part of human (sin) nature.
And to be honest there are a lot of people out there who do some pretty stupid stuff and it can be easy to point fingers and feel superior. Till you remember Rom 3:23.
