The individuals that use such words feel that this is the only way they can get people to understand them. Many use it as a way of letting off steam, but all it does is give an adverse opinion of the user and sums up their capacity to communicate. As far as their meanings, there are many but you can bet that those making use of said words do not know their exact meaning but just their twisted definition.

Junior, I had to make a living back in the early 80's to support my son.A secretary made very little then and I had not gone back to college yet. So, I took a job at a factory as a class A welder. My brother was a welder, he had a welding machine at the house and he had taught me to weld. I worked 10 hrs shifts 6 days a week with nothing but men. Guess where I learned to use profanity. I actually tried to avoid it, but I was in a man's world and I picked up some of the more unsavory habits. Now, 22 years later, I will still slip into it at times. Contrary to what Beth may think, I do in fact know the meaning of the words that I use from time to time. It is not a reflection of my intelligence level, it is simply a bad habit that I work very hard on to change. So, I suppose what I am saying is that some people use profanity because of their environment. It may not be the right thing to do and it certainly offends many people but in my case it's a bad habit that slips by up on me every once in a while.

I do not subscribe to the theory that the use of profanity indicates a poverty of intellect. I have a stunning command of the language and I love to swear. These words add flavor and impact to a conversation. They certainly will get anyone's attention when used correctly. For example, "Hey *******!!! Eat s.hit.!!!" The definitions are fairly obvious but they take on different connotations depending upon usage and context. Cussing is fun.

People use those words maybe because they need to show how they feel, or they grew up around those words. I choose not to say them because it shows i have more vocabulary than just 5 profane words. I think when people use those words it sounds so ignorant because they have nothing better to say..

Kids use it to make people think they are:cool: or "with it" or "tough". They only sound ignorant, young and crude to me.
Unforntunately, when you start, it becomes A habit & is hard to break.
