My two children ages 18 and 12 dont know their father, long story. I many times feel guilt and feel really bad that they might be wanting a male rolemodel. So far they appear to be ok, but I worry they might not. Can someone answer?

Kids who grow up without their fathers are definitely screwed up compared with kids who have fathers. They don't have a male role model, and grow up hearing over and over that their mother is a whore. Sorry, but it's true.

On the other hand, it's too late now. Maybe reason with them why they shouldn't perpetuate the cycle, but that probably won't help - you're not a guy, you wouldn't understand.

Involve them in activities where there are male authority figures that are within the parameters that you think are good, solid demonstrations of manhood. Do not try and fill the place of their father with temporary fixes, it will only confuse and alienate them! And, you might consider dating men that adhere to your ideals as well...you may find that one of them fits the bill and wishes to play that role and the kids may reciprocate.

get them enrolled in a ball team or boys club or ymca. they have many male role models there that will mentor your boys and not have an attatchment to you. They will get good advice. You are doing a good job to get them this far don't question what you are doing. You are a great mom.

If they are 18 and 12 and are OK now. I think you can stop feeling bad. Enjoy them. They will be grown before you know it.

DO they have a decent grandfather to look up to and teach them things that are good and relate to a good life??? How a church w a youth pastor to look up to and ask for advice? You could all go together and meet new people- I assume they are both boys- pray hard for them!! take care -D

IF THE FATHER DIDN'T STICK AROUND TO BE A FATHER TO THE CHILDREN EVEN IF YOU TO SPLIT UP HE IS NOT MUCH OF A MAN...WE BRING CHILDREN IN TO THE WORLD SO EVEN IF OUR RELATIONSHIP DOESN'T LAST WE HAVE A COMMITMENT TO GIVE LOVE AND SUPPORT TO OUR CHILDREN....I THINK THEY WERE BETTER OFF WITHOUT HIM...SOUNDS LIKE YOU DID A GOOD JOB WITH THEM BY YOURSELF

it doesnt matter,
what matter most is your love for them, and do your obligation as a mother..... doing your best, you will be the true model. and they will not worry about knowing and finding their father.

the three of you must live happy.

Oh, by the way. dont forget GOD, pray always, bcause he is also their and your father.
