What is the difference between Muffins and Cupcakes?

Muffind are fibre and fruit based. Cupcakes are a dessert.

Same base ingredients but at different ratios that result in a different texture. The fat, sugar and egg ratio is doubled or more in cupcakes. Cupcakes are cake in single-serving form while Muffins are cake-like.

Also, while you'll find some cupcake additives in muffins (eg chocolate chips) can you imagine muffin additives in cupcakes? Bran and blueberry cupcakes? ewwww!

Basically the difference is the icing.When you think of muffins, you think breakfast----cupcakes, mini-cakes!!!Big difference...

muffins are bigger, fuller, ritcher, usually without frosting and such. cupcakes are smaller, sweeter, more kid friendly.

muffins are best with coffee
cupcakes with milk

so it is my opinion anyway,
they are both great.

a cup cake is just really a little mini cake, made from cake batter and served in little paper cups for easy single portions.

muffins are more dense and usually have something in them, like berries or nuts.
