the soul is immortal.the body dies but the soul either goes to the heavenly abode or acquire another body(judged according to your karma).

The soul exists and passes through lives. The soul does not die with the body, rather it changes bodies till it mingles with the source from where it has originated.
Its impact is traced to VMAT2 in the DNA which is also called 'God gene' which is not affected by parentage. This gene in human genome is connected to spirituality. Dean H. Hamer, the Director , Gene Structure and Regulating Unit in the National Cancer Instititute, Bethesda, USA has been doing research into the 'Relationship between Brain Chemistry and Universal propensity of Transcendence'.
It is wrong to hold that modern science does not believe in the existence of soul. The research is being carried out with the faith that it exists, and not other way round.

Your 'soul' is you, living breathing. There is no separate spiritual thing that survives death.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.
When Jehovah [Exodus 6;3] God created Adam and then Eve, the Bible says NOTHING about them having to grow old and die....UNTIL THEY DISOBEYED [ SINNED].Genesis 2; 16,17
SO IT WAS GOD'S PLAN FOR THEM TO LIVE ON...AND ON.
And again at (Ezekiel 18:4) Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.
To die, you have to be alive. If the 'soul' was immortal, it could not die...but the Bible says it can. So its YOU.
also the hebrew word translated ' soul' is NEPHESH which means " that which breathes".
The teaching of men having an immortal soul is false.

Definitions of soul on the Web:
* the immaterial part of a person; the actuating cause of an individual life
* person: a human being; "there was too much for one person to do"
* deep feeling or emotion
* the human embodiment of something; "the soul of honor"
well, theres nothing to suggest the first definition is true, and since the second two hinge on this body, i'd say it "dies" with me.

according to most Christian scholars the soul and the body are the same it is the spirit which continues,and or will continue.
see genesis where the creator" breathed the breath of life into adam and he became a living soul"

I believe we came from some place.... and where ever that place was, we will return..... "The breath returns unto God"....
The soul, is the body...It returns unto the dust.... it dies.... Thoughts perish......
The spirit is the breath, as some call "nephesh", it belongs to God..... It is the image of God... and as God is eternal, so too is the spirit, lest God destroy it body and all.....
It is this reason, that the mind is constantly in thought... Because it never ceases to think or to reason whether awake or asleep....

the soul dies with the body, then it resurects, then it hitches a ride with some other souls and posses people on here.
