Well, my significant other is anticipating a hangover and I'd like to be prepared to make him feel better. Is there any simple food/soup I can get/make? I'm not really educated in this area...

Encourage him to drink lots of water to replace lost fluids. Avoid salty foods, as this adds to dehydration. Eat light foods for the next day or so. If the he has a headache give him a pain killer.

There is really one tested sequence that none of the people have mentioned up till now, so read this with care and keep notes:
1. Shower
2. Greasy breakfast with eggs
3. Lots of water
4. Sex
5. 1-2 hours sleep

If you do not have the time,
(e.g. hangover on a Wed morning and you have to go to work)
just drink 1/4 pint of beer.
and a light but greasy breakfast.

The best thing I've found is Emergen-C, which is a vitamin- and mineral-rich substance (powder) that you put in water and drink. It tastes really good, and it's a little fizzy. You can buy it at most drug stores, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc. It's sold in boxes of single-serving packets. Try the Raspberry--yum! (I read an article that said most of the production crew and the racers on the Amazing Race take it every day, just for the energy boost).

If you're looking for an immediate help, force him to drink a glass of juice or Gatorade (at least 8 ounces) and take 2 aspirin BEFORE he passes out. When he wakes up, more juice and lots of water.

Well, if you really want to stop this hangover....then try this:
Go to the store. Purchase some vitamin C, some vitamin B, a sports drink, some sugar [so a piece of fruit or some sugary candy], and some food [must be a simple carbohydrate, and thus easy to digest and easy on your stomach...try white pasta, white bread, crackers, etc.]

Best rule. the more he drinks in a short span of time, the more chances he has for a bad hang over. so ask him to take time and drink. advise him to try and have only one drink per hour.

Basic rules.

BEFORE DRINK

.Load up on food and water before the first drink. The food will sop up the alcohol so that it doesn't all go directly into the bloodstream in one go.

DURING DRINK

1.Darker drinks, such as scotch, and brandy have more congeners ( a type of chemical bad for human body) than lighter drinks like white wine, vodka, and gin.

2.avoid cheap wine.

3. have fruit juices/plain water in between drinks

AFTER IT ( BEFORE SLEEP)

1.one SHOULD NOT take analgesics before going to sleep. that is a BIG MISTAKE that one would be doing to one's body. Many guys swallow pills as a preventative, which will strike back. Aspirin upsets the stomach and aggravates the symptoms of a hangover. Acetaminophen (Tylenol), when mixed with the alcohol ( which would still be in the bloodstream) might cause liver damage.

2. Ask him to take in two multivitamin tablets before he sleeps. That will replenish many of the lost vitamins in the drink session.

3. drink lots of water/orange juice/gatorade .

4.Sleep as long as possible.

NEXT MORNING.

1. ask him to take two aspirins, one or two vitamin C tablets, b complex tabs.
2. if he just has a head ache and no dehydration, then a coffe will cure it. if he feels dehydrated, YOU MUST NOT SERVE HIM COFFEE.

3 give him lots of fruits, fruit juices.

Coming from personal experience, McDonalds before bed. KFC in the morning, including gravy, though your favorite type of greasy food should do just as well. water water water. Avoid coffee and anything else that dehydrates. And a swim in the ocean also helps a lot. Getting a little suger in your system will perk you up a little, and last but not least, your body is withdrawing from the alcohol it had the night before, so another drink or two can ease that pain. Forgiving your significant other for the stupid thigs they did/said is another great idea

Remedy for if the hangover already is happening:
-Aspirin, right away. Two tablets with a small glass of water.
-Try to eat something you eat when you're sick, like soup and a half sandwich.
-Try to keep your living quarters with low light, or if possible, natural sun light.
-Keep noise and loud music to a minimum.
-If possible, go back to sleep to avoid the pain all together.
-If you are going to stay in, drinking a cup or two of a caffiene drink (coffee is superb) is helpful for you body to "wake up".
-If you're going out or to work or school, I suggest some kind of energy drink to help you bounce back.

Prevention for the future:
-Have two aspirin tablets while you're drinking to help avoid the hangover in the first place! (This has "kind of" worked for me. I heard about those pills specially made to prvent hangovers, I forgot what they're called, but they're bogus.)
-If you're drinking to get drunk, try to limit yourself to a couple less than you normally drink to get to that level. That way, you'll get the drunk feeling you desire without having to pass-out or risk alcohol poisoning.
-If you're drinking socially and just want a buzz, alternate your drinks between an alcoholic drink and a non-alcoholic filler, like water, soda, or a virgin drink. Also, eat food during the night (this will help your body absob the alcohol better and rid yourself of it faster).

These are all methods that have personally worked for me.

Good luck and happy drinking!

If you SO anticipates a hangover he is drinking too much. You get a hangover when you get drunk. When you get drunk you can do dumb things.
But. He should have a good meal with lots of starches before he drinks. He should also take a couple of ibuphrophen before drinking too. Make sure he is with friends and has a safe way home.
Lots and lots of water. Orange juice or veggie cocktails. Chicken noodle soup. And sleep.

A method that combines all of these helpful hints--start with Pepto Bismol, then a big chocolate chip cookie or brownie, a large glass of water (16-32 oz), followed by 2 ibuprofen. Do all this before going to bed. Keep extras on the nightstand.

Honestly the best thing ever for a hang over is to smoke pot. It is not something I do on a regulr basis, but it really works. It gets rid of your headache, suppresses the nausea, and makes food sound appealing.
