Because all human beings are superficial animals! Anyway, ask yourself, do you PREFER to look at or see beautiful things or ugly ones? That goes the same for people. Everyone wants to see and own beautiful things or people. For 1st meet up on a date, maybe looks matter a lot to many guys and girls. But for a real courtship or marriage, PERSONALITY matters the most!!! What's the point of having a beautiful face but a poor character, that will not help her stand out from those ugly faces or bad figures but smart-brained ladies? So who is exactly the ultimate winner? For me, looks is NOT important at all, but personality is definitely a important factor!!!!

In dating, you casually want to date someone you enjoy spending time with. Having nice visual aid adds points. Of course, in relationships, looks counts so much less. After all, outer beauty will rust, but inner beauty will last. Relationship is much more than dating. So people should think of long run.

Because we naturally prefer people with symmetrical features and close to ideal proportions. The ideal proportions have been well studied. So has the symmetry. A fairly recent experiment placed a spot on one side of a bird's head. It was rejected as a mate far more often.

because they want to be seen with pretty people. most people judge others by what the people look like that you hang out with or date. is it fair? no. whats on the outside is ok but just remember its whats on the inside that really counts

Even tho in this society looks are everything! But when ur dating someone it's soo much more you wanna find out more about him/her beyond that cute surface. With me I tend 2 look beyond his look and see somethin else. But that's just the first thing you see and well it's important lol :-)

Alot of people in this world today have become very shallow and use looks as a measuring stick to rule out possible date material.

Looks and attraction all come down to a science. Basically, we want to find somebody that we can procreate with, red lips and rosy cheeks mean fertility in women, big breasts and hips mean she can bear a child. Good looks mean good-looking children. Deep in our minds this is what is attractive even if we don't admit it. Dating is basically auditioning for marriage.

obviously, because it`s the first thing you see. unless you we`re to meet on the phone or some other way without seeing eachother. it shouldn`t matter much once you get to know a person. looks are only skin deep

Looks count. Whoever says they don't are either ugly or guys trying to sound sensitive to other girls to get laid.

They don't. Just make sure whoever you go for is in "your league". I mean why should a guy have to choose between a ugly nice girl, and a pretty nice girl. Of course he wants to go with the pretty one, if hes a handsome guy.. then does that make him a bad person? It doesnt.
