God doesn't require "logic" just faith. There are many things that transpired in the Bible that could never be explained in logical terms. God doesn't have to follow our rules of logic. He can do whatever He wants. Just because it's beyond our grasp to consider the Ark flood-worthy or even a viable means of survival for humans or animals doesn't mean it wasn't. God Himself closed the door of the Ark. Can you explain that? I can't. That's where faith comes in. What about the 5 loaves & two fish that fed 5000? I can't explain that. I don't care to. He's God. He can do whatever He wants, whenever He wants, however He wants and He doesn't owe us an explanation for any of it.
The Gospel is the most simple thing in the world. People make it complicated. You either believe God's Word through faith and accept Jesus' gift of Salvation or you don't. It's just that simple. Of course we make mistakes in our arguments, we are human. Just because we are saved and our sins are forgiven doesn't make us genuis. Just forgiven. Only God is infallible.

You make a great point. I think most theists just WANT their religion to be true more than anything else. In the back of their minds, I think that most people acknowledge that the Noah's Ark story is ridiculous and shouldn't be taken as anything more than a story. But the thing is that they WANT it to be true, so they trick themselves into believing that it could have been possible. They're afraid to doubt their faiths publicly, but I think that a lot of them have private moments where they dismiss the supernatural and nonsensical things in the Bible. I hope they do anyway.
See, I'm mixed on this issue. Don't get me wrong, I would never tell someone that they didn't have the right to believe in whatever they want to believe. But to be honest, I don't think it's a good thing that we have so many people believing in so many unverifiable, unprovable events that, I'm sorry to say, most likely never happened. I just don't think that's positive for our society. Religion is convincing people that it's possible that the world is 6,000 years old, for example; I'm sorry, but it's just not. I'm sorry if that goes against someone's religious beliefs, but the world is 4.6 billion years old; that figure might go up or down a couple million years, but it's CERTAINLY not going to be reduced to 6,000. So I don't know. Again, people can believe whatever they want, but I'm not sure if certain beliefs are positive for our society.

There's no proof of God, but it's always been kind of obvious to me. I'm not trying to push my religion (well, maybe inadvertantly), but even when I was agnostic I thought there had to be a purpose to life. Just the fact that we even attempt to ascribe meaning to the events around us speaks volumes, at least for me. We're not slaves to animal instinct: chimps can create simple "tools," but only for things such as food gathering or gaining dominance in a group. I doubt monkeys sit in cages wondering what their purpose is, dealing with feelings of ennui and depression because they've spent their entire life swinging on branches. We, however, can create fiction for the sake of fiction, or make a ridiculous contraption (a la Mouse Trap) just for the hell of it (I would know, I had to do it for a 4th grade project). And since I intuitively feel that there's a purpose to all this, I would like to think that the end result will be perfection, whatever that may be. And by faith, I KNOW that's how it'll turn out. And yes, parrot, that's essentially what faith is: hoping against hope that things will turn out exactly how you want them to. In the case of my Christian beliefs, that means a world filled with love and perfection, bereft of pain and suffering.

...Hello. I don't quite get it when you say you "left Christianity very recently." Romans 11:29 says, "The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable." - they will not change, cannot be taken back, and if you are saved, you cannot lose your salvation. If you never really believed that is one thing, but if you are born-again, you can't become "un-born-again."
...I'm sorry you were rejected by those people - maybe God is leading you to another congregation.
...If I were you, I would get in touch with the Institute for Creation Research and hash through your question with them. I think they could address you questions better than most others.
...It's okay to be inquisitive, but remember what Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him."
...We can cause ourselves problems by demanding that everything has to be logical and laid out. While I have learned good, solid answers to many questions, I personally don't believe that God owes me a lot of answers but God has left abundant evidence for those who seek it objectively. In the final analysis, for things we can't or don't understand, trust God for what you don't or can't see.
...I do wish you a blessed eternity, and urge you to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved, if you have never trusted Him.
...Whosoever will, may come.

we are not fooling ourselves but it is you that is fooled. there is an enemy, just as good has evil so god has Satan, he has some power in this world but with what he has he can give proof for the explanations of science. how ever it can not be denied the existance of god, he does not need to prove, he died on the cross so that all may be saved. He gave his son and he gave us this world, enough is enough, God is knocking on the door of your heart and if you resist, then destruction without remedy.

I am in no way trying to be rude but it is your logic that is flawed. You are expecting sound scientific answers to reasonable questions from people who have thrown away their critical abilities and replaced them with blind faith in myths and legends. You might as well talk to a brick wall for all the sense you will get back.

They try to fool people, all people who will listen to their malarkey. They want DOLLARS to keep the church up or TV program on the air so they don't have to get their hands dirty with a real job.. Their real job is to create hysteria among the idiots that don,t bother to question them forr fear of being persecuted by the church...I could tell you a story that would curl your hair.. But, I won't take up space.. Good for you I say, Real Good.......

but all they can do is maipulate language to the best they can to lead people astray from the real arguments. Why can't they understand the simple facts that they're fooling themselves? Why oh why? http://www.bible.ca/su-does-God-exist.htm
This is why.

Because they know as I do that God is real because He's changed our lives. Once you see His power or feel it, you can never say that He's no real. I was once healed from a serious condition in my foot at a meeting with an evangelist. medical science cant explain this, and it happens all the time. God is more real to me than you. I am not fooling myself. If you truly search for Him with an open mind and heart you will find Him. what've you got to lose?

The evangelical atheist as you have defined seems to be an absolute douche. i could somewhat be a appropriate atheist respectful of people's theological ideals than an boastful imposing prick.
