Not your immune system, it is working fine if you are having such a reaction! An overreactive immune system, (more likely an allergy) is to blame. Some people have terrible allergic reactions to spider bites (mosquitos, too) and there isn't much you can do about it. However, having Benadryl on hand and Benadryl cream will alleviate any symptoms you may have from the bite. If you feel your throat tighten or become itchy, however, call 911 right away. If it is an anaphylactic reaction you are having, that is way more serious

Hi there, you might have a slight allergic reaction to a mild bite and if your skin is really dry, are you drinking a lot of water?
If you were to drink 8 large glasses a day for a week, outside of peeing a lot, you might find your whole body feels 100 % better and you might find that a lot of little things simply clear themselves up!
Also if this does not work, I would think that fast acting Benedral in small doses after being bit, would help your itching, so would the product STINGEASE which you can get from a health food or camping store.
At minimum, it would be prudent before starting any of these things, outside of the water, with your doctor, who might require of you, blood work-up, maybe a skin sample and or a sample of the critter that snacks on you!
Good luck and God bless

Hmm I might suggest having a thyroid function test done and am Iron level as well. Both tests can point out a potential problem. If you thyroid isn't working right it can make you skin dry, tired all the time, achy...same with low iron and all that hurts your immune system. Also diabetes. OMW since I was diagnosed 9 yrs ago I have had all kinds of issues with allergies and scaring and dry skin...so yeah I would talk to your doctor

the really dry skin could be eczema. The problem most people have w/ spider bites is an allergy that causes the swelling and itching wich leads to infection
