Double sided sticky tape is a good solution for couch/furniture scratching. It won't damage most furniture, and cats hate the sticky feeling. Leave it on for 3-4 weeks and by then they should have gotten the idea. It can always be re-applied to remind them. Buy a good scratching post, one that is at least 3 feet tall so that cat can stretch all the way up to scratch, and that has sisal (rope) and carpet. Make sure it has a nice wide base to keep it from tipping over easily. Spray catnip spray or rub fresh catnip all over the scratching post to attract your cat(s) to it. Praise them for scratching on it. A squirt bottle is also a good deterrant. Just squirt them when you notice them scratching on something unacceptable. Try trimming their claws if they let you.

Hiya there is a cat repel spray that u can get from the pet shop. It's cheap and smells nice and is not harmful. It's just herbs that cats aren't keen on so u spray on the things ur cats not allowed to scratch n will lasts for days. Then once the cats trained u wont have to use.

I don't know a home remedy...but I do know that stores sell things that repel cats. Also, kitties don't like strong smells....that's why they tell you to put vinegar around your x-mas tree.

if they are indoor cats, get then them declawed. I have 3 that are and they are silly, crazy and happy . If they are outdoor cats , get several scratching posts and sand paper. Cats always feel the need to sharpen claws on something . Don't think that declawing is inhumane because cats can live a very fulfilling life inside as such.

ok there is a couple of things you can do, 1st get a scratching post, 2nd spray your stuff with a citrus spray, like lemon oil because cats hate the smell of citrus. 3rd a well aimed water pistle will do the job and its not cruel, most vets will recomend it ok, go to this site it will help
