exactly. very good points. but sometimes logic just is to obvious. until people can debate the logic over the issue and stop shouting racist, maybe something will be done to stop the breaking of the law.

Thank you for saying this so well! I am sorry for their plight in their own countries, but dammit, we are NOT responsible for everyone else in this world! If we do nothing to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into our country, they will drag our country down to the level of what they are "escaping" from and their own countries will NEVER be forced to look after their people and their problems.
I'm with gokart - build that fence yesteday! I know the fence will NOT entirely stop the illegals, but if it is manned properly and maintained diligently, it will go a long way to stem the flow. The fence coupled with other good anti-illegal measures would cause considerable control of this problem. And the cost should NOT be a problem because it has been shown that the illegal immigrants cost us billions of dollars per year and this only goes up every year. Use that money towards the fence and enforcement of all our immigration laws, including massive deportations. In the long-run, it will be money well-spent and saved.

Another thing to consider is the more people who come to the U.S. illegally the harder it is for those who want to go through the system and do it the right way. Why spend all that money on the smugglers and risk your lives while making it more difficult for your countrymen who want to do the right thing?
Kaiya is wrong. This affects all of us in one way or another by taking away jobs that we could do, plundering our tax system, overtaxing our welfare system that is meant to help poor people here, not support people in other countries, lowering our wages so our standard of living is lowered as well and many other things. While I have compassion for their situation, there are native people in this country who are starving and don't have roofs over their heads at night because there are too many illegals.

Some people have no choice. Others can wait their whole life and never reach the "Promised Land". To live a better life or none at all. You know, many people would trade the low pay, dismal health conditions, and labor opportunities to live in the "fear and danger" you speak. Besides, you cannot complain. It isn't like this society has not benefitted enormously through the contribution of undocumented workers throughout its history. It doesn't affect you directly and so I feel you take this lofty opinion, carelessly disregarding those who feed ther children through, albeit, a much more harder day at "the office" then you'll ever experience. I dare say! These people, although some poor and "stressed" are making a life for themselves. They essentially are taking the bull by the horns, while most passively go through life, not earning much of anything but possessions.

you know what...you have presented a very good argument and i applaud you. i am in the middle of the fence so to speak on this issue but am quick to jump to the side of the illegal when people are ready to deport the innocent individual who is just trying to feed their family across the boarder. however i do feel that you made a incredibly valid point, i never looked at it from the viewpoint of their own safety.

You say 'undocumented', I say 'illegal alien'. GET these people OUT of the United States. It's really not THAT hard to understand...I know a lot of people are trying not to hear that, but it bears repeating....deport em, send em home, let em fix their own problems back in the countries they came from. LEGAL immigration ONLY, and I'd like to see the US/Mexico border fence built, post-haste...

Those illegal people don't have the time to wait to become legal. Their families are suffering from starvation, being mistreated by their local governments. The most important goal to a man is to feed and provide for their families, and they will do it or die trying.
And you see them every day in the news, being hunted like animals, steped on like roaches, forgotten and left to die in trains and trailer trucks. And they try hard, and earn their money with mostly appreciated hard work, though not well rewarded, they are fulfilling their goals, tough as it is being scorned.
The government of Mexico has to become more involved, that's where Bush has to push for a Reform. And no, Mexicans don't bring any desease, rest at ease, they have erradicated as many illness as the States have.

People should be documented for protection, both their's and others.
Also, they deserve to not live in fear. I truly appreciate what the immigrants from Mexico are doing for me, and remember them when I pray thanks to God for the food I eat. They were the ones who worked the dirt to get most of our food to us.
They made a "choice" to be here, but the choice was made from desperation. It's hard to understand what economic desperation does to people unless you have experienced the fear of not having enough for your family. The lure of what you and I take for granted, and the lure of what is almost nothing for us is just too strong for them. Embrace the love in your heart and try to understand your fellow humans. They just want to pick your fruit, and live in dignity.

if you enter the country illegally, you must accept the consequences. The reasons for breaking the law don't matter.
