Please excuse my pesudo-scientific babble...but probably when the actual ramifications of subatomic behavior hit me and I realized what it implies for humanity.
(And that's actually a spiritual answer, believe it or not...)

well, I had one long ago, which was incredibly brilliant, however, the most recent one was this morning when my daughter told me how, as a child, she decided that suicide was wrong, and determined for herself that she would never ever commit it.
"When I was little, I was terrified that the world was going to end. I would huddle under my covers every night and think about it, and that's why I don't care what names anyone calls me at school, or anyone who makes fun of me. I'm glad the world is here today!"

When I was going to a job interview and examining my hands. I noticed all the scratches on them and thought "Wow! What has gotten into Der Tanz Der Schatten??" And then I realized it was quite simple, really. He's a young male cat and needs to be neutured!
Schatti goes on the 'chopping block' next thursday if anyone cares to 'rescue' him...

The time I realised how big the Universe really was, and that it was made up of particles so small that I could never see them. I felt that someday I would be able to understand it all.
I became less religious at that moment.

When I was thirteen and it hit me like a thunderclap, that everything I'd been spoon-fed about Christianity was a huge LIE and a stone around my neck! First I felt sick, because my brainwashing poured out fear and guilt. But I stayed strong and got past it...I've been FREE (and happy) for many, many years!
