My son had those when he was a baby, until he was in the 2nd grade. Here is a site that will give you better advise than putting herbs or anything into them first. It is what I did:

Melatonin (the sp might be off) It can be found at GNC and lot of parents with Autisitc children use this to help them get a better quality sleep and they say it has helped a great deal with night terrors. I am going to get some next week for noth my dd and myself. She's got PDD/NOS and I just need good sleep

when my son had night terror 27 years ago, his pediatrician gave him a cough suppressant - which broght his sleep level down a notch - for 7 days (and did not hurt his cold one bit - hehe)

after that his episodes were fewer and longer in between - until they finally stopped - they had been nightly
